I pay at the gate. The extra $10ish bucks is a cheap premium - just incase I can't or decide not to go.
Last November I went out Wednesday and registered my roadster for the G/Guys show on Friday..($90 total to join G/G's & register)...I thought I only had a few hours work to finish my car...those few hours turned into 6 long, long days!!! Needless to say ,I missed the show... at least I got a $90 hat...I wear that sum***** everywhere!!! I won't chance it ever again...I'll pay the extra and register at the gate at any show from now on...Too many things can happen Le$$on learned... Stan
It is a common notion expressed in this and similar threads that "WE are the reason people come to the show...why should WE be charged?" Word of advice....get over yourself. The number of people who come to most shows that are NOT participants (i.e. didn't bring a car to display and are not members of the 'Club') is a pretty small number compared to the overall attendees. The Party is for YOU and the rest of us who bring cars to the event, so why would you expect to NOT be charged something to defray the costs of the promoters arranging the Party for YOU? Oh, "they're in it for the profit", you say.......well, please introduce me to the people you know who would run such events, month after month, year after year, and do a pretty good job of it, and expect NOTHING in return. Kinda hard pressed to find those folks, eh? It seems to me those who constantly carp on this topic are mostly "users"...that is, people who haven't a clue what it takes to produce the events they so casually take for granted, because they haven't done it, EVER. They just feed off the efforts of those who 'do' and all the while feel so self important because they got a car to bring to the show. Come to think of it, this pretty well describes a large segment of the population in general and their approach to being a citizen.......most certainly isn't limited to this hobby. Ray
you have enough cash to have a gg worthy car . can drive how many miles in a car that gets 10mpg. stay in a hotel for 2-3 nights. and you are shorting out about 45 dollars. want a little cheese with that whine
hotels are for homos and old women. sleep in your ride. hell, i'm a biker, i'll sleep on my bike or beside it on the side of the road, roofs are for limp wrists.. and dont say "well i'm old so i've got to ***** out", my 86 year old grandfather and 72 year old grand mother ride their 37 indian around everwhere, he say's beds make ya soft and weak.
Great post... Agree 100%. Goodguys puts on great, well organized, and fun shows, with more stuff to see and things to do than any place else. I tire of constantly hearing of how they are "BadGuys".. I for one am glad there are people who organize events like this for us to attend. I just got home from my 7th consectutive Columbus Nationals. I had a blast and have every year. 1000s of cars to see in every shape, size, color, and style imaginable. I like small shows too, but you can't argue that these big events aren't pretty darn well organized and well put together. In fact, you'd have to try pretty hard to NOT have a good time at a Goodguys show IMO.
