Why won't this guy sell me his car?

This drives me nuts too, the only thing worse is when they do agree to sell, then give you a 'numbers matching - Barrett-Jackson' kinda price.

I followed up on an 'old car' lead a couple of months ago and found a super straight, rust free 61 Econoline that probably could be running in a weekend. It was sitting in a field, the bed half full of water and some junk.

You guys know the drill, you can't rush these old farmers, and this guy was about 75 so I listened to about an hours' worth of his rambling stories before I finally asked about buying it.

He told me he was gonna give it to his grandson to 'fix up'. I said "Is he interested in cars? How old is he?" I was thinking most younger guys would rather have a used honda with a big wing and a fartcan exhaust, and maybe I could get it from the 'kid'.

His reply? "He's 27. I'm not sure if he likes cars or not"
