Technical Wide 5 adapters

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by v8flathead, Jan 4, 2021.

  1. Does anyone know if you can get adapters for speedway style wide 5 hubs to fit the round style ford v8 stub axles?
    Thanks Colin

Check with @55willys here on the Hamb. He is currently thinking about producing another run of wide five adapters.

Do you mean floater hubs ?

  4. A translation may help. Stub axle = spindle.

Thanks for the translation Tony, now I know what a stub axle and a bottle shop is, in your country. V8 Flathead, if you want to mount wide 5 floater hubs on the front, this is what you need. Either you find some that were cut off a Timken rear axle, or find some that were replicated by Frankland, Stock Car Products, or other oval track suppliers. There will be some machine work required, in the form of a 3/8" plate, that is sandwiched between the snout and the spindle. I recently sold a pair to a member, and have a pretty good selection left. Whether one mounts drum or disc brakes, all of the bearings, seals and spindle nuts are readily available, as it's all of the same parts used on modern Stock Cars today, that race 100 laps or less. Marty, would it be possible to drill and counter bore a Ford spindle to accept a new press fit stub?
