Have a 39 word rear with wide 5 bolt pattern. I'd like to run the stock 29 ford wire wheels which are the 5x 5.5 bolt pattern. I have been looking for hubs as I have been told you can swap the hubs and drums but its been far and few between. I may have to run wheel spacers anyways so does any one know of a wide five to 5x 5.5 spacer? I supose I can always make one but what would you do?

Find 40-48 rear drums and hubs. They are out there. You will still need the support rings to run wires on those drums.

I would find the correct hubs.It cant be that hard..I can find them with a little effort in Australia, so surely coming up with a pair there cant be that hard.
40-48 will work, preferably the early ones in this year range that attach to the inside of the drum. of course then you will need new drums too.

if you run the wires with pattern adapters the inside of the wires will probably conatct the adapter, then you will also need spacers..getting really messy. you will have to deal with at least a 3" widened rear track as well, so dont. just get the right bits.

  4. Forget the adapter the '40-'48 hub/drum assemblys are available both used and I think new. Remember to run spacers with the '29 Ford wheels or you risk a wheel failure. Try an ad in the wanted section of fordbarn.com.
