  5. Jimmy , those caps are cool. Are they just plain? It's hard to tell from the pic.

  6. Yeah they are

  7. The caps on this car are '39 Standard car and '39 pickup. '38 Standard and pickup cap is similar but the V8 logo is longer and wider and painted black rather than blue on '38.

  8. All '37's used the same cap--the V8 logo and circle are raised on '37 instead of recessed like '36. On '37 Deluxe cars, the area inside the circle around the V8 is painted black; on Standard and pickup it's left bare stainless.

  9. The caps you have are correct for '39 Deluxe.

Yeah, old JC Whitney or something, they are steel and plated, and had paint on them to look like a factory cap. They were NOS when I got em, I used laqure thinner to take the paint off. I got them at a yard sale, and buying them made me run wide 5's on the truck! I think wide 5's look so *****in on the right car!!

Chris - The Model A coupe is in post #4 and Jeffrey James car is in post #5. I know you were poking fun at JJ's 35 coupe...but the Model A owner might have taken your comment the wrong way...

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. :)

Yep! 3.5" were V860's. I'm running them on my '35 with 5.50 tires which is what Ford called for back in the 30's. The regular 4" wide wheels got 6.00's.

Chris, would you happen to have one of these to spare? I lost one on a road trip today and I am in desperate need of 1.

To muddy the water a little:

These are '39 Std caps on '39-47 3/4 ton truck wheels. They are wide 5s, same bolt pattern, but are 5 1/2" wide and don't have the scalloped center that most wide 5s do.

Edit: Thanks for the correction, 38FordPU.

  26. The caps you have are '39 Standard and pickup. '38 Deluxe cap stainless portion is shaped sort of like a World War I Army helmet, much larger stainless part and less of the painted base showing.
