He is a collector of old "BOXES". Just old wooden boxes. A friend of mine found these: In one of them, he found various machine tools of unknown age. They looked like engine overhaul tools, of a machinest ability at the time they were made. Some were clearly valve grinding bits and such. Others looked like they were intended to expand things in a previously made bore about the diameter of a valve stem. There were others about lifter diameter whose purpose we could not determine. And some grinding bits of at least two inch diameter.... Tony believes the container to be made of Oak. All of these were within a case that had three sliding drawers inside of a fold down front cover. It was a machinists tool kit. Some of the bits within were clearly stamped "FORD MODEL A" or "FORD MODEL T". We expect to present further pictures this weekend. I AM NOT KIDDING YOU. ~Greywolf PS: The most bizarre part of it was a metal plate screwed into the front of the tool box which read: "BLACK AND DECKER" - Which was also very old. It was a stamped steel plate, painted with laquer. What the **** is it? Could this be original?
Sounds like an old Black and Decker valve seat recon setup. Pilots, guide knurlers, reamers, seat cutters, etc. They used to be in the shop tool business.
B&D seat and valve cutters were what Snap On sold in the 50's and 60's. Still useable stuff, stones and pilots available. Goodies to look for wouldbe the pilots for early Fords...
Wow those are interesting!! -if I liked being directed to commercial sites... All I got was some commercial sites for car parts and such. But the scent of spam wafting from my monitor was delightful. Thank you... By the way, it's spelled "weird"
Hey,if the man's who his profile says he is, let's give him a break. Maybe he just hit the wrong link or something and will come back and straighten it out. We haven't wasted a lot of time yet and it wasn't his first post,so let's just wait a bit. How 'bout it,Grey?
I check his public profile out and this is what stood out the most. Maybe I'm being a little judgmental here, but its not likely that he mistook a link to a comercial site (or two) for a link to some pictures. Aside from the fact that if he's been wrenching cars since the '60s he probably knows what those tools are, if they indeed actually exist. **** give a guy a break I guess, now produce the tools Greywolf.
What year is that? I remember them being in steel boxes from the late 50's early 60's. Everybody laughs at my B&D 1/2" drill that probably has the same body and D handle. Very cool. I love that box! And Smokin Joe...may I be next in line to provide a fat ***. (mine not yours.)
