Wierd Trans- Mustang Shit

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by suede55bowtie, Oct 9, 2009.

  1. Once again, I searched but all I came up with WAS T-5 material, nothing really pretaining to my problem.

Heres the situation, a friend of mine knew I needed a Ford T-5 for my Y-block. He sent me a transmission from a "foxbody" style Mustang that he believed was a T-5. When I recieved it, it has the exterior of a T-5...but the shifter is odd. Instead of being the usual rectangular toploader style shifter, its a triangular 3 bolt outlet, still toploader, but its throwing me off. Its definitely a manual, but Im doubting its a T-5. I cant even find pics of it on the net. If I find time I'll snap a pic of it tomorrow when I go back home.

Does anyone know off the top of their head what this could be? and if its the same "specs" as far as how it mounts to the bellhousing etc etc of a T-5?

Thanks, Ive still got a **** ton of learning to do...

SROD,basically a 3-speed with an overdrive tacked onto it. Very sloppy shifting, and very weak. Holds up to a stock early `80`s SBF OK,anything more and BOOM!

Mounts the same as a T-5.

  3. Ok thatll be fine then. Im not building a real monster, itll probably wind up being around 200hp, and thats speaking optomisitically. Does anyone know where to find a shifter/shift kit for it? I need the plate/shifter that bolts up top to it.
