Thanks. Came up with nothing with a 5 minute search. Think Justin might have scored one of those panheads ^^^^.
Grim: I was really bummed to read your "theft" post. Hope all is getting back to normal. I would hate to no longer get to follow your great history and stories. I`m sure that tin pan motor will become somthing good...ride on!
hope things are squared now , id hate to not be able to read more history , this has been one of those interesting threads , that makes for a good read
AM I the only one that is totally lost as to what is going on, what was stolen, recoverd, found? shop was brokne into and everything was stolen ? I have really enjoyed this thread but sometimes wonder, and get lost at some of the ramblings. like someone posted something about a guy going to prison and traffic is way down on that street compaired to old days, ....lost me .... we had a theft, too terrible to even mention.......lost me...
Woah... Easy fellas... Grim, when you post in such an obscure manner, you leave room for people to wonder and imagine. That's all Finkd was doing... It's all so mysterious that all of us are wondering what is up. That's all. Nothing to take offense of...
I was actually looking at shops to open up since we just moved. When I read "We've had a theft. The loss is just too horrible to describe... " it was like being hit in the face with a sledge hammer. New town, not knowing the good areas, high/low crime rates, etc. the very thought of someone breaking into my shop while I was away for a week and not only stealing my tools, but the very livelyhood I feed and house my family with, I was shaken enough to walk away and stay at home. That is how hard those simple words hit me Grim, many/most/all felt horrified for you and was just wondering what happened
Hey friends, I know I've left everyone hangin' on details, but it's been wild times over the past week... Two cats got me where everything of real and family value is stored. They wiped me and my family history out flat. In the rush, by accident, they loaded up all of my photos, documents - my family collection - all of my backups - and all of what I've been gathering for the past 18 months to get back. Anyway, I got broke into, and then, after I was broke into, a few hours later, my computer equipment, camera, hardrives, on and on and on - poof... After I walked in on the losses, I wasn't in a real good mood. I decided to lock things up and take a walk. After walkin' up on the other losses, I still wasn't in a real good mood. I locked up, walked some more, stopped by a few places, and stopped up at the library. That's when I let you all know, depending on how things would turn out, after I found out who took my things, that I'd likely be gone for another year or so. After I left the Library, I spent a few days finding out who took everything, and then went around and got it all back. You might not know it, but it's hard for me to talk to you all on a computer; it takes me a real long time. I tried to spit somethin' out better, but the library kicked me off, after a while, for lingering. Luckily for everyone, most of my stuff wasn't scattered; everything was made even - and, for all my troubles, I even convinced some help my way at buyin' up the last runnin' horse from the Roman Chariot, from Doug. The other panhead, on the Chariot, was bought by my brother, before he was killed. His project disappeared... This last bike will be somethin' special to me. It's been a long road, this year - blood, sweat, and tears. Roots, man... Some things never change. Hold fast, friends... -Justin Greene P.S. Glad you're here with me on this journey, Ryan, prewarcars4me, and finkd - and I hope there's no confusion or hard feelings about my demands on manners. I'm simple minded in this regard. I totally understand all of you bein' worried and your curiosities. Believe me, I can relate.. I very much appreciate all of your words, everyone... I hope my finally finding time to catch everyone up helps ease everyone's mind. With that said, please be careful, friends; any rushed words, that might slip any of this thread's contributors into an uproar, I'll simply show you the door option on. I take my time in life; help me, friends, by doin' the same in here. Choose your words wisely, and show respect for others in the pages of this story. Frankly, I demand it of people in my presence. I don't use a computer much, so I hope the way I carry myself in life translates well for you all here. Though this may sound heavy, it's my choice, and if you respect me and my family - from what you know of me, based upon my perceptions and expressions here, please show it by taking your time and extending it to each other. The door is always open in both directions. I'd rather you stood inside. I'll be back on as soon as I can. If anyone has anymore questions, take your time, and let me know. In the meantime, I'll see if I can find some shots of the Roman Chariot. <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like-box href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?ref=ts#%21/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?sk=info" width="292" show_faces="false" stream="false" header="true"></fb:like-box>
Wow, whirlwind story! Getting all your things back, guess that's sort of unreal . . . righteous and just, my friend, so happy for you.
Lately, I've been carefully gathering and repairing what I consider to be the necessary tools for my work (old original customizers' tools). It's hard to convey the feeling of using an old artist's tool, how it affects your work, or what it's like to be the recipient of such work - from a tool who's story's known to you and understood. This weekend, I brought a real old and special machine back to life for my studio. Ray Farhner's famous louver-press. I'm told this will be the oldest louver machine, originally built for customizing, in use. The first hood off Farhner's press was punched on Saturday night - a Model A Ford owned by Eric Myers. Thanks for bottling the memory, brother. Too kool.. These Star Trek phones, man; didn't even know I was on camera - ha. Thanks, buddy! It was fun man; I gotta be honest!.. For a minute, under that dim light, I forgot it wasn't '93. Almost asked Ray for a square once - no lie.
For those out of the loop - custom paint advertising in the magazines, under various names, had one major source back before House of Kolor. The company was called Lockwood. Mr. Lockwood and his wife supplied the custom world with one-off custom paints, metal-flakes, pearls, and more for decades before their passing. I hear there have been some rumors around about me acquiring the Lockwood's operation. They're true; Lockwood's place is safe and sound. Still have a lot of work left to do though, and, to be honest, a lot to learn about business - so, let's just start with Louvers, for now. I need to continue finishing the building restoration before I start moving forward much more. Thanks for the kind words and enthusiasm on the streets, friends. You're all a real kool bunch. <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like-box href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?ref=ts#%21/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?sk=info" width="292" show_faces="false" stream="false" header="true"></fb:like-box>
Justin, the press looks awsome!....I always wanted it.......It is funny I had prolly ask 100 people around here about whatever happened to Ray's press after he died, And nobody seem to know. The last time I seen it was when I was pretty young down at the trailer court on 40 hwy. where ray was staying, I had him sign some stuff for me, As back then being a young kid he was a hot rod hero to me. The "boothill express" Model Car was always one of my fav's as a young boy. I can still remember his loud raspy voice. I was told many stories about Ray from my Dad and people who knew him. like the fact that he was a millionaire not once but 2 times And one of the best ones is They got so drunk one night after a big local outdoor show, that when they left after shutting down the show and got almost all the way home and realized they left the Sacks of CASH in the parking lot of the show. They raced back over there and in that empty parking lot sat those 3 big bags of CASH untouched.....
Cowtown: Thank you, man; didn't touch anything but the mechanicals, but she's workin' like a dream again. No surprise on that Money at all. You know how these boys play - Hooray for Today. You need anything at all, don't be shy, brother... Speakin' of, somethin' I saw after the first work off the press.. Got me right in the chest... ARTICLE LINK: Learning a Craft from a Youngster that Grew Up Surrounded by the Best While playin' on the building restoration, couple kool cats walked in to make a friend. They're buildin' an ol' goosenecked chopper. Nice to take a break once in a while - make my mark on somethin' for a change. <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like-box href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?ref=ts#%21/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?sk=info" width="292" show_faces="false" stream="false" header="true"></fb:like-box>

Hey Grim, thanks for the update. Every time I'm on the HAMB, I check for a new one. Glad to see things moving forward and cant wait to see what the future holds for you and Wild Child's.
Hey, thank you very much... It's real kool to hear that this thing I'm doing is important to people out there. Updated 3/1/13: I sometimes wonder about the future myself... I'm about to crash on the sewing table again, Burt Munro style, just like Pops and I did as a boy - to stay on funds. ...but I gotta grin.. On the radio........... "Regrets, I´ve had a few But then again, too few to mention I did, what I had to do And saw it through with out exemption I planned each chartered course Each careful step along the highway And more, much more than this I did it my way" -Sid Vicious ("My Way") I picked up a box the other day, with what just looked like a bunch of bullshit in it - but then, as I was digging, I found a couple spray painted t-shirts. One of them had a little blood on the sleeve... That's when I spotted a work order. Caught me off guard....... "Nancy Vicious - Sidney." If I make it, if I do something great with this life, and the pages that follow turn into an adventure - I hope some of you will find something here I never found anywhere else. <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like-box href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?ref=ts#%21/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?sk=info" width="292" show_faces="false" stream="false" header="true"></fb:like-box>
Never grow up. It's a trap! Speakin' of, I've been wonderin', what ever happened to all the kool neighborhood kids? <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like-box href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?ref=ts#%21/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?sk=info" width="292" show_faces="false" stream="false" header="true"></fb:like-box>
That's too cool of a photo grim, I remember those days in the mid to late 70's in our neighborhood growing up. But I don't ever remember 6 1/2 foot long forks...awesome!
You know, I've actually been approached by some of those neighborhood kids, since posting this? That state of mind, that's where it's at! I just keep lookin' at that shot. You can't help but grin. Can't wait, man. Thanks, friends! Don't be strangers. It's great to hear from ya.
Some of you are asking about me doing a second run from Ray Farhner's famous press. Right now, I've got 7 or 8 people wanting to start a line; if I can get at least 10 or so, I could go ahead and set aside some time from work to setup and do a run. Much appreciation to those who are supporting the cause, and to those sharing & spreading the word! -Justin Greene <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like-box href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?ref=ts#%21/pages/Wild-Childs/130345530376900?sk=info" width="292" show_faces="false" stream="false" header="true"></fb:like-box>
