It's 11:00 AM in San Diego and the sky looks like dusk. Smoke has blotted out the sun, people driving with their lights on. House smells like the inside of a chimney, but at this point we're thankful that we still have a house. Fires have been moving rapidly west out of the hills, the place where I had my Merc stored up until 2 months ago is now burnt to the ground. 96 year-old guy dropped dead in the middle of his street watching his house burn down.
Sure could use some of that rain and snow from the east coast right now...

Yup. Pretty crazy. Here in El Segundo the sky looks milky and it stinks like burning brush too.

Hopefully the winds and heat will come down soon...

I'm worried my parents and brother both evacuated on Friday. Haven't heard from them since. My dad lives of off Summitt and I15. I called a buddy that lived in the same neighbor hood as my brother he was packing up and he thought my folks had left already. Tim

It's bad my car, house and everything is covered in ash. Looks like night time off and on outside. I live 10 min from the waterman fire in San Berdoo and 20 min from the Grand Prix fire. Can't even go outside the air is so bad. Had a few friends now that have lost their homes I hope this ends soon.

  6. I'm sorry to hear about the wildfires down there,up here in b.c. we just went through one of the worst wildfire seasons this summer, whole towns gone, the devastation was unreal!then a few weeks ago we had insane rains that caused major flooding,i guess everyone had been praying for rain all summer to put out the fires and boy did we finally get it.

  7. Yeah, I pray for y'all... I wish I could send the rain we've had over there [IMG]

    Good Luck,

Damn, while I am sulking back here in upstate NY because it is starting to get cold and we have seen snow, it seems like a piss-*** little problem to what you guys are going through. Losing your house and valuables collected over a life time to a fire is an unthinkable horror. I'll keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
P.S. Does anybody know if the fires are affecting the Diamond Bar area? I have a friend that lives there and so far I haven't been able to contact him.

Valley Center was hit pretty bad. Now I see that there is another fire kicked off in Otay Mesa. We're OK here in El Cajon, the fire seemed to have moved from Lakeside through the Canyon to Miramar Air Station. This **** is like something outta a Stephen King book...

My wife and I live in Alta Loma so the fires are literally in our back yard. The ash falls from the sky like snow and the air is so thick with smoke you must wear a mask when outside. Friends that live in Rancho Cuca****a lost their home yesterday and others that live in an adjacent neighborhood were evacuated as a precaution last night. Unfortunately, all they can do now is wait and see if they'll have a home to return to.

Went thru something similar back in the 70's when I lived in the Tujunga/LaCanda area... Seen what the fires could do also to the bay area back in the 90's when i lived there... It spreads fast and has no care as to what and whom it attacks.. Hope all is well.

Well Fudge, the flames are now 3-4 miles due north of me. Alot of houses, Lake Murrey, and the marshy San Diego river between my home and the fireline, but it is getting a little dicey.

Spent the last hour or so packing up the pictures and personal do***ents so they are ready to go if need be.

    Think rain!

If ever there was to be a HAMB lynching, I think we'd get the "all clear tp proceed" with shooting whatever schmuck(s) started this in the head!!!! There is ash from Pomona to Long Beach, even Catalina Island.

Good luck guys. I saw it on the NBC news tonight and one house was untouched and the one next to it alot worse. On the news it had a someone named Bob Atwell that had a Model T that he lost in his garage along with a music box collection. Not sure if you guys new him or not.

Yeah, we are getting ash that looks like snow every once in a while... In Long Beach... Car looked like it was near the Mt. St. Helens Eruption or something this morning...

I'm Sorta "on-call" to help evacuate a Doberman Rescue in Filmore if needed... Crazy stuff...
