Customs Will 1950 4 door 1/4s fit a 1951 2 door?

    Has anyone ever seen or heard of anyone ever using 49/50 Merc sedan rear 1/4s on a 51 two door Merc.I have a 50 four door parts car and would like to fab the 1/4s onto my 51 if possible.Thanks in advance for any info.

    Are you just talking about the lower quarter panels, the pieces that bolt on, or are you talking about the whole rear clip?

    You could graft a '50 rear clip onto a '51 if you didn't like the '51 extended quarters, I'm sure it'd be a bit of work but it could be done (personally I like the '51 quarters better but I could be in the minority).

    If you're just talking about using the lower rear quarters, they'd be a lot of work since the forward part would be missing on the 4 door quarters, and the rear part is different on a '51.

    I am talking about the rear 1/4s not the bolted on ones.

    So you basically want to graft on the whole rear clip. Yeah, I'm sure it'd be do-able, I think the trunklids are the same, you'll want to brace the shit out of the car before you start cutting.

    I guess the important part would be if the trunk pan and rear framerail area is the same (I'm not sure if it is or not) because if it is it shouldn't be all that difficult, you could separate the trunkpan from the quarters by cutting all the spot welds out and make your vertical cuts right below the back window.
