Will a 1946 Lincoln wheel fit a 1946 Ford column?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Stripped down hopped up, Feb 1, 2011.

  1. I have a really sweet '46 Lincoln steering wheel for my '37 Zephyr coupe, and I'm at the stage where I need to set up the column (currently has a tilt installed by the previous owner). Anybody know if Ford and Lincoln shared the same column in '46? Seems like '46 Ford columns are easy to come by and I didn't want to waste time chasing down a Lincoln column if they were the same. Any help would be appreciated.

I *think* that they both have the "keyway" type of installation.......a friend has a Zephyr steering wheel on his '47 Ford column.......seems like the reverse ought to work?
