Hot Rods Will a Model A sedan fit on a '70s T bird chassis?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 66gmc, Aug 6, 2016.

  1. Wow, now that's a save worthy of great praise.
Can't wait to see the rest of the body cleaned up, no one would believe what you started with, if you didn't have the pics.

As to the any car, I was sad to see the use of a 29 Hudson body for the main body section.

  3. Great work to not only repair the previous hack job, but also your results and showing the amount of work required. Keep up the good work!

The methodical way you 'walk through' each phase is encouraging. Metalwork goes slowly, if done correctly. Patience required...
This thread can be referred to by first-timers, and I recommend it.

This thread rules. So glad that you ended up with it and not some guy who carried on with it!

I welded up the back window area and got it finished out, also got the rest of the roof welded together on the passenger side, but havent finished the welds yet

Ground the welds and started filing under the window opening

And the finished product, not perfect, but I think its probably better than what I started with.

Well I got the top welded back on, then someone wanted this thing more than I did so it found a new home before I had a chance to finish it. The guy that bought it has built a few cars before so I think it went to a good home.
These are the last pictures I took

and if anyone cares this is going to be my next project. This is being built for myself, its an early 28 roadster cowl, and a lot of leftover scraps to build the body from. Its going to be a 1940s style Av8. I got an original chassis for it this weekend, and I almost have enough pieces for the body. I just need door hinges, a decklid (which I will probably just build) and the panel above decklid.

I tore down the chassis donor for the roadster on the weekend. This thing was rode hard and put away wet and the frame needs a lot of repair. Its only fitting that I fix a junk chassis to go with my junk body.

The leftovers will get made into a custom truck body that i will probably sell, everything else will get repaired or reused in some way.

Some of the other parts I have collected, 8rt flathead, I will either backdate with earlier heads/waterpumps ect or just find another engine. 32 K member with pedals. Also have 35 ford straight spoke wire wheels.

I am looking forwards to getting started on it, i have been collecting parts for a couple years now and I think I almost have enough now to start making some progress on it.
