I have a TH350 that is leaking at the kickdown cable. I put in some more rubber washers like the one that was already on it and tightened it down, but it still leaks. Could it be leaking just becaue I may have overfilled it, or should it stay dry at that spot no matter what? Thanks

  2. that shouldn't leak regardless of how much oil you have in it. take it apart , clean it up good , use some silicone

another problem to look out for if you overfilled the transmission is it may slip due to fluid going up too far into the clutches.

  5. I believe there is an overflow tube at the top of the case, it could push fluid out there.

If you over fill it, you could burn it out, Trust me on this.
Find the correct size O ring and you will be fine.

I know the TH400 has it... so I would assume the 350 does as well. But it would show tell-tale drip from the top of the case down.

  8. if it is overfull the above is correct it has an overflow tube that will spit the fluid out. make sure it is coming from the kickdown and not somewere else and running to that area.

I put in a new o-ring, but my kickdown is at an extreme angle due to some clearance issures. I think it may just not seat the way it needs to. I like the idea about putting something around where the cable meets the case, like silicone or gasketmaker. That way if it doesn't work I can just scrape it off.

    What are opinions on this?

  11. just be carful with the silicone or gasket maker to not get it in the tranny. and i would use ultra grey permatex

  12. When the transmission gets up to operating temp, the expanding hot fluid with puke out the vent .

They also make a rubber insert that is about 1/2 to 3/4" long that should take care of it. But if it dose not take A GOOD look around the hole for a hair line Crack.
    Good luck
