will there ever be any unchopped cars left on this earth??? i know, let it begin. just striking up some talk around here.give me your 2 cents....
Nope I have no plans of chopping my 33 5W. Now if I could figure out how to make it into a 3 Window I might want to have it chopped, don't think that I could pull this one off.
If I wanted a chopped '32 Ford Vicky I'd have a lump of fibergl*** in the shop now. I've got a lifetime of welding just to get the body back to stock condition. No reason to wack it.
tHOUGHT ABOUT THAT ALOT,BEFORE BUYING MY MERC. I THINK IT DEPENDS ON THE CONDITION OF THE CAR YOU'RE STARTING WITH. I WOULDN'T HAVE CHOPPED MY MERC,IF IT WAS IN REAL GOOD SHAPE,TO START WITH. BUT IT WASN'T,SO I HAD IT CHOPPED. I LOVE THE WAY AN UNCHOPPED MERC LOOKS TOO. YEA IT'S ALSO A MATTER OF TASTE,AND WHAT THE CURRENT TREND IS AT THE TIME. EXAMPLEEOPLE TO PUT GL*** FENDERS ON VW'S,AND RAISE THEM UP IN THE BACK. THEN IT WAS THE "CAL LOOK".NOW IT SEEMS THE THE RESTORED LOOK IS IN. SAME WITH HOTRODS. THE BONNIVILLE STYLE CARS WERE THE THING,BACK IN THE 40'S AND 50'S. THEN CAME THE 60'S AND 70'S,WIDE TIRE LOOK. 80'S AND 90'S,THE BOYD,NO-CHROME,GRAPHICS,PASTEL PAINTS,BILLET ****. NOW,IT'S BACK TO THE LOOK OF THE 40'S AND 50'S,HOME-BUILT,HOTROD(HATE THE TERM,RATROD)LOOK. THINGS CHANGE,STYLES CHANGE,TRENDS CHANGE. SEEMS THAT CHOPPING IS IN AGAIN.
I have contemplated chopping my 52, but I am going to leave it and just do a mild custom. Shave it nice paint and interior..
Not going to chop anything I own. I just don't like the way most chops look, esspecially the ones with the "mail slot" gl***. ICK. Gene
Not chopping my 29 Closed Cab PU- and there's a car that needs it! Looks like a ******* telephone booth with a bed.
I like the way Mercs look chopped or un-chopped depending on how they are done. I plan to drive the **** out of mine once I get it going, un-chopped. There is enough body work to be done on mine before I consider a chop. Seems like a lot of people don't even know what an un-chopped '51 Merc looks like...I plan to be the "different" one around here- for a while, at least. I do prefer a nice, un***uming chopped Merc, but there is something to be said for a slick driver that isn't cut. If they would have leaned the posts in at the factory, maybe there would be less chopped ones running around...hmmm...maybe I'll do a stock-height-roof Merc, but with the door posts leaned in...there's somehting I don't think I've seen yet. Shhhhhhhhhh!
Nope. It's the Ol Skool way of life...Half ***ed chop + half ***ed channel = full fledged Rat Rod You are obviously a god a****st men... So what is your preference? The unchopped chopped? Maybe the chopped unchop. I like the way mirrors look unless they are upside down. THANKS FOR SCREAMING AT US BAD BOB Yep. I'll play the tool at this pernt. Hee-He-Hee-eee Is this a little "end o' da' year" game or something? Let's see how much stupidity we can jam into one post. Dude, rockabilly! Rat-rod-a-riffik! If it's not chopped and channeled my levi cuffs won't be able to "fit" wiff it... hey, you all know I'm just f'n wiff you! Have a great Christmas everyone!
Interesting topic. Seems like everyone is chopping tops, but when you really think about it, there are extremely few. Go take a drive and look around. There's an ocean of beige minivans and bland front wheel drive sedans out there. Very few cars are customized at all, aside from a few bumper stickers or plastic hubcaps.
I am not chopping my beautiful baby. I have seen enough flat paint, chopped and channeled model A's to last a lifetime.
After all the *****in unchopped pics of deuce five windows were posted,.....I decided to leave the sawzall out of this build. Looks just as cool with a whole bunch less work.
I'm sure there are thousands of restored cars of all body styles all over the globe so I Don't ever get the feeling like I'm doing something wrong. If you prefer the look of an unchopped body then that's the perfect reason to not chop. Personally I don't think I've ever seen a chopped car that would look better unchopped. I've seen plenty of cars that had chops I did'nt like, too much, not enough or bad angles etc but that's another subject. There's no right or wrong here, just alot of opinions. Picture 3wLarry's coupe with a stock height top.....YUK!
My T will be unchopped. If I can figure out a way to put the Olds 324 in it, it will really be unique. Although I will most likely give it a channel job... Dave
my shoebox will be unchopped. I see so many botched chop here and there for sale, I think I'd go that route if I ever wanted a chopped car. but cripes I'm almost 6' 5"
