Unless his insurance will pay for a full rigging/crane type lift, I'd consider partially disassembling the truck to get it out of there without further damage to the body. Good club project!
Pull the hood, grille, front fenders, boards. This might allow a rigger to get a couple of straps around the frame rails at the firewall (just aft of where the front X member meets the frame), then lift that dude straight up and out. If it stand on its ass going up, hopefully there's a rear bumper to ptotect the bed.
Not a good day at the run. Nice truck.

Hot Rods Ta Hell, great ideas about removing some parts, grille, fenders, running boards etc, that would definently make exstraction easier.

Get it Out. Dry it out ASAP. Flush all of the mechanical parts and grease everything that moves. Remove the electrical that was wet and replace. Don't try to dry it out, you'll have "Green Death" about 6 months after your done. And all kinds of troubles. Body and paint is the easy one to fix. At least it didn't go in Front end first and drown the cab. When I was an appraiser I tried to save a Audi that had gone into a ditch front end first. Cleaned everything, replaced the electrical that we thought would fix it and mechanicals. Boy what a mistake. 6 months later the problems started and never stopped. Ended up taking the car back from the customer and paying him out. Sent the car for Salvage!!!!!!

This one sucks in many ways. I feel sorry for the guy. That will ruin a day for sure.

Then there is the poor guy with the tow truck. He's probably the part timer working a holiday weekend, then going to this call? sucked for him as well. He probably called the boss. (I would have.) So now the bosses weekend is ruined too. He probably had to leave the family gathering to go bail out the part time help. Then when he arrived on the site, he would have had to deal with 500 arm chair wrecker drivers, probably none with actual experience. A wrong move could cost him business for years.

I think having pictures of the recovery would be interesting. I think most of the tow companies around here would do some serious damage getting that one back up on solid ground.

Yep, this one sucks on many levels.

For the record, a 16 point NSRA safety sticker does not require a functioning emergency brake, least it didn't a few years ago. Gene

The guy that sent me the cell photo is going to try to email me some more photos later this week. In the message that he sent me via text, he indicated that it had rolled down the hill...not sure how far or fast it went but either way it ended up in the creek.

A member of another forum I frequent said he heard that there were 960+ registered cars at this event. Claimed to have seen #941 himself.

The show was huge this year. We got there at 9am-ish and were number 580something. And they poured in after us.

From the word around the show on Saturday, the guy was in the swap meet when it happened. He wasn't even near the car. It rolled about 35-40 yards before making a left in the creek! Also lucky it happened early because if the show would have been full it could have taken out 10-12 cars!
