I blocked my primer to 320 and want to make sure I don’t get sand scratches on the top coat which is semi gloss black urethane. Will this be fine enough?? Thanks -Abone.
What grit equivalent is it? I generally stop at 400 on single stage but will finish with 500 for black
Sand primer with 400 grit prior to painting. Some folks let the body work sit for a week or two after priming to avoid shrinkage problems later on.
Superfine sanding sponge google search: 3M Softback sanding sponge uses aluminum oxide as the abrasive material. Comes in a super fine abrasive grade. 3M incorporates this aluminum oxide material into the sanding sponge forming a grit of 500 to 600. The sanding sponge has a width of 4 1/2 in and length of 5 1/2 in. https://www.rshughes.com/p/3M-Softb...D_BwE&ef_id=WnhndQAABMekyKAC:20180910220808:s
I'd bet "superfine" is finer than 320 Don't use products without knowing exactly what they are. Costly mistakes can result. That sounds like a home improvement store product. I suggest 400 followed with sealer.
Ah Ha!! 500-600 grit was the number I was looking for, not sure why I wasn't smart enough to find it. Thanks, -Abone.
I did the edges of the engine cover of my V8Corvair. I sanded them with a red 3M scrubby pad...…….pretty coarse. I used duplicolor trunk paint on the edges. You can't see any scratches in the paint
