Hi, i have had it since 1977 and was my daily driver 77 till late 86. I clocked up 70,000 miles and just wore it out and parked it up, but it still drives. When my 26 T is done i will go over the Willys and get it on the road as it is. The paint is the same i had put on it in 1980 and still polishes up nice, its just got 3 years of dust on it. It will stay in stock form as will my 35 willys. Keep up the good work, looks great. JW
Hi, I'm impressed, daily driver for almost ten years!! Well done, the cars shall be used and not be locked in a garage. Great that you shall keep it in original condition. If mine not had been dis***embled I would have keep it as it was. /Mike
Until now I have ***embled the brackets for the driver/p***enger seat and have beginning with the headers.
Some progress of the headers at driver side. I took used headers, cut them in pieces, use the flanges and built up new ones of the remainder pipes.
Looks like a solid car. My friend use to have 38 sedan with 'gl*** front end(40) and he ran Dodge 318 with 904 automatic.
Yea, its a good solid car. Have you any pics of your friend Willys -38? Cool that he ran Mopar drivetrain as I do. Usually the choice is Chevy 350 for the most Rod builds.
Super solid Willys you have there, the floors are amazing. In Sweden you guys have left steer cars like here in America? Keeping it all Mopar, Chrysler owns Willys. I also am running a Chrysler motor in my Willys. Keep up the good work...........Dave.
Yes we have left steer cars in Sweden. But we had left-hand traffic until 1967 so I think there was some cars that was of right steer. My Willys is original left steer and I think it because it imported. It was set in traffic 1939 in Sweden. What Chrysler motor are you running?
Wow!, my dream is to have such motor or a 354 in my Willys. But here in Sweden it's rare parts, expensive and hard to find.
Almost finished the headers at driver side. It is some grindings left and a lid at the collector output. It's nice to see how its look like and I'm quite satisfied of the look.
Thanks JW! I have beginning with the other side now, but I need to order more pipes to be able to finish the work. When both headers are finished I shall sandblast them before painting.
Have done some work of the p***enger headders. I also was at a swapmeet today and purchased a Hilborn-style scoop. I put it on the intake manifold just to check how it looks like.
Hi! I have done a lid and a bracket for the p***enger headdsers. I also have welded a pipe to it so I can connect a exhaust system that is legal for general traffic I shall weld three "wings" on the screw-nut so it shall be easy to remove the lids when you want have nice noise. Now it is only the driver side left to finish. I also have made a brake pedal. Maybe I will do it some smaller.
with your skills,I would use the stock type headlight back on it...A Willys deserves the best..forget the after market ones.
Some progress today. I have bended the shift lever to the right angles and threaded the shift lever so the shift knob fits. The shift knob is reworked from a solid aluminium piece and the letters W and O (Willys Overland) are milled out. I also have welded a pipe to the driver side headders. /Mike
Thanks, you have right! I have been thinking of it many times. I really like the original headlights and you have convinced me and I shall try to make it to its original design. /Mike
Today I have finished the lock nuts to the headers. I also have left them for sandblasting. Next thing to do is to figure out how I shall do the parking brake. I will use the original handle but change the wire to a one which fits better to the remaining brake system. A friend had a braking wire from a Ford F1 pickup that will fit with small changes. Pics coming soon.... Is there anyone who knows how big the orginal headlights/lenses are to Willys -38 and were I can find some similar? /Mike
Hey Mike try Dawn she is ilmo6261 on here i got some NOS lenses of her a few months back think she had more can measure them if you need sizes cheers Wayne
