Does anyone have any ideas on making the trim piece that goes on the top and rear edge of the quarter on a Willys Aero? It is a Tee shaped piece that goes between the quarter and the rear surround, but the top of the Tee is a rounded shape. I do not have a good idea on how to make this shape. Thanks for the help!
I don't have a picture, but this is the molding at the top of the quarter panel that runs from the rear window to the taillight. There is a short straight one that runs from the taillight down to the bottom of the quarter panel. It is about 1/4 inch wide. Hope that helps.
i dont know how to make one,but take a look in catalogs for british cars.alot of them use a piece that is t sshape betwween feder and body. one company is moss,
I found one from a MG that should do the trick. There are techniques for replacing the molding where the quarter and trunk surround remain welded. But how do you weld a new quarter in place. I can't see how to access the peak with any kind of welder. Any ideas? Thanks!
If you have the quarter off you could drill holes 3" apart or so in the flange that butts the surround flange. Then clamp it to the surround and with a small mig or tig weld it to the surround through the holes. They must have had a small spot welder at the factory that fit up in there. Do you have any pictures? Are you building a rod or restoring it? Mine is finally about ready for paint and it should be on the road this summer barring any drivetrain issues. It has an early Olds with tri-power and a stick so it should be fun.
