So I'm thinking of using an M38A-1 F-Head Jeep engine in a little beater I'm planning. The bellhousing is for a Borg Warner T-90 trans, but they are all 4WD and have the mounting flange for a transfer case.I think I will p*** on having a 4 wheel drive Hot Rod.Does anyone know if there is a trans that will bolt up to my bellhosing?
Seems like lots of those things were Postal delivery trucks and two wheel drive. I would look around for that stuff
Also Henry J sources?? T-little bitty trans, can't think of number, with OD. It was closely related to some Jeep trans and I remember hearing once that it could be made into a floor shift with Jeep top... Basic trans was used on most lighter cars of the time, Stude, Willys, don't know if patterns were the same. T-56 maybe??
Something 2WD used that transmission.... note the bottom pic tailshaft... http://www.drivetrain.com/transilljeep_t150_t90.html EDIT: AHHH-HA!!!!! Int'l Harvester! http://www.jeeptech.com/convtrans/ih/
Thanks a lot for the help..I think my "cheap and easy" engine idea is gonna be a h***le..$100 for the engine+$500 for gas to find a trans= I'm using the Ford Flathead out in the garage!
ya you can use a 2wd 3speed willys t-90 like i have stock in my 48 pickup!!! you probably best looking for someone parting out a willys wagon or an international harvester (60-mid 70 i no) thats alot more common...... but let me know if you dont find one im thinking about parting mine out panman
I believe the bellhousing bolt pattern for a p***enger car Willys (Americar) will work. Then 2WD ******s that will bolt up are out there as well - Kaiser, Jeepster, have heard some Studebaker & even early Falcon might...
