Scored a Willy's 134 4 banger with the F head for the bucket project and was wondering if there is any kind of performance - custom parts for these.

This came out a 50's CJ3B that a buddy is canabilizing into a mud buggy. It comes with bell housing and clutch set up. Not sure what kind of ****** to run probably hard to find a T-90 or T-86 out of a jeepster.

Looking to maybe turn over a tire but not set the world on fire and some mileage too.

  2. I thought the F-head motor was the six also used in Aeros?

That motor there really are no performance parts for, except a later Brazillian 2-carb intake - which you'd have to try to buy on eBay de Brazil or something.

F-heads were called Hurricane's. They were used up till 1971 in the CJ 5. It is worth more to a restorer than you if its in good shape. Most have been bored several times and a lot of them have cracks at this point. Clifford makes or made headers and I think an intake that uses one of those funky progressive 2 bbl Holleys like they used on Pintos and Vegas. I have owned several of them and they are TOUGH little *******s, guess I have a soft spot for them. Check out the CJ3B page on the net for more info.

thats a looong stroke motor. good runners but more of a tractor engine. :) good for 4wds.

I've rebuilt several in jeeps and still have a ton of parts around if you need anything, but yes good blocks are getting tough to find.

sell it to a jeep guy and maybe get a pinto engine for the bucket.

Willys f4's were used in 3b's, M38A1's, CJ5's and CJ6's as well as some Jeepsters. Should be a Carter carb on there, pretty simple, long stroke as mentioned. 72HP stock. Make sure it's not cracked. And when removing the head, there is a bolt or stud under the carb in there, don't forget it. No real hop ups except over boring and intake and exhausts.
T90's are 3 speeds, stout little gear boxes. Got one in my CJ2A. Not hard to come by, just gotta look for another Jeeper who swapped one out for another gear box such as an SM420. They were common.

I had one in a '65 CJ5 probably 25 years ago.The Kaiser/Jeep had 5.38 gears,I think I went over 55mph once!Letting the clutch out at a light one day I heard a sawing sound, push the clutch in the noise goes away.Turns out the #4 rod journal broke t a 45 degree angle, and it still ran!Rod journal if I remember is about as wide as a V8 crank, but for one rod.The crank counterweights were screwed and welded on.Yes it idled like a tractor when it was running ok.Not sure about the hotrod capabilities though! Good luck!!

Thanks for the input. This is the 4 cylinder popper that is better suited in a tractor than a bucket but hey what the hell.

I have a friend needing a F-head 4 cyl engine/block if you are interested in selling.
