Here is another one to keep things moving. This is a very clean all original 1933 that was from California. It's dark blue with black fenders.

  6. Elgringo...that is especially cool...does it get driven much? At one time my '38 stocker (silver & black) was the only one I had, and around town, I drove it everywhere...got lots of thumbs up! g-willys

No, It hasn't been started but the motor turns over. I will help the Owner start it someday. (He doesn't live near me) I think it's cool to see one this original. Even the ignition key says Willys on it.

G-Willys I really love your 36 sedan, I had one I found in the Buy-Lines a NY craigslist type paper (yes real paper) It was in Coney Island Brooklyn of all places. It was a flawless body, 4 drsand a chassis that was taken apart at the rivets. The firewall was still attached, this was a stocker that was taken apart. Think I gave $600. in 72. I've had all sorts of Willys and 55-57 Chevys and wanted to build a carefree car that if broke down anywhere in the world it could be repaired. I opted for a 4cyl. and found a 72 nova 4 banger w/air cooled PG. I narrowed a 64 Chevy rear, ran rallye wheels. Mounted engine on the stock Willys frame mounts that I made a little bigger to bolt the stock Nova rubber mount to. I kept the X-frame in the car and the trans yoke sat right around the center of it. Recored the stock radiator, moved it forward (I think) 1 inch. Used the stock front seat but it proved to be too uncomfortable so I opted for VW buckets with the headrest cut off. They are narrow cars, stock rear seat and 8 gallon gas tank. Utilized all the stock gauges and ashtray. It was a fun car, drove it cross country with my wife after the streetrod nats in Columbus Ohio, we put on 13,000 mi. in 6 weeks. What a great time. I,m looking for another sedan body that I can put my Pontiac super duty 4 cyl. in it, this one will be turbo charged though.

  9. The one time I had taken the coupe down the track...what was I thinking...I just drove 2 days to get from the Twin Cities to Thompson, and still had to drive it home...what was I thinking! Actually all went well, but I really didn't need to jump back into my adolesent behavior...one thing I remember, Thompson has a turn off road, that comes up mighty quick...almost missed it. Street Tires and all! G-willys whitewillys2 (2).jpg

This coupe used to be in our area and no longer is. It got sold and I don't know where it went. And, yes, his son does own a hemi powered 34 coupe. 19a.JPG 18a.JPG 26a.JPG r.JPG

  14. This car is still around...it is too nice and too solid to be sold, and not have someone in the area know about it.
The gentleman who owned it passed away, and it went to his son (many years ago)...he must still have it???
The owner at the time pulled it out of the garage to show me...it had the nicest stock interior I had ever seen.
I had never met the son, but his mother said it went to him after his dad died...the area is the Minnesota/North Dakota border. g-willys IMG_20180215_141606500.jpg

  15. Here are all the components of the '39 Willys head light system...the most complicated of the Willys head light systems, 1933-1942. If you had everything but the stainless trim ring, you could not put it together, unless you siliconed in the head light glass. g-willys IMG_20180207_110027507 (1).jpg

This next photo I'll post is From member Stewed66. It is of her Dad his friend. It's her dads 38 willys coupe he purchased used after coming home from the war. As you can see it has some kind of headlight conversion and some wire rod laying up where the wiper shafts are. Purchase price $500 WP_20150225_18_27_20_Pro.jpg

  24. Here is a coupe made from a sedan many years ago in Minnesota. The builder in Minnesota did a good job for what he had to work with, and the car is neat looking, with a Hemi in it. Since then he has done a couple more and I hear they are even nicer, as he eliminated the opera window, to make it much more Willys Coupe like. g-willys IMG_20180217_230209632.jpg

  25. Here's a picture of a coupe I saw at Sears Point Drag Strip, many years ago. It had one of the two (as I understand it) front clips made with the '39 style for Jack Merkel. Ron Norman found and bought this coupe to help in the restoration of the Merkel car. g-willys IMG_20180217_224957998.jpg 64NATIONALSINDY-JACKMERKLE-BGS.jpg

  26. If there is a Willys owner out there that has not seen all of the headlight lenses of the 33-42 Willys, here are the lenses of all those years. Start with the lower left ( the flat glass)33-34 lense and trim ring, then the 35-36...same trim ring, but convex lense. Next is the round 37-38 & model 48 headlight glass, and note the slender trim piece that holds it in.
Top middle is the '39 lense, and next to it is the trim piece that holds it in place. Then comes the 40 lense, and trim ring. The 40 & 41-42 lenses are the same, but the trim ring in 41-42 has the circular inner piece, and note also the pot metal piece that bolts to the bucket, which allows the trim ring to screw into the bucket assembly. g-willys IMG_20180217_225027199 (1).jpg

  28. g-willys, there are still the odd one turning up down here. Mostly 37's but more and more coupes are now, and they are recent imports from the US. A good friend got one from California, says its a 38 I haven't seen it in person yet but has early drag racing history and is now a bit street rodderish, all done by the long time owner. JW
