Hey Guys, I did a search for rebuilding window regulators and door latches and came up with nothing that really was helpful in rebuilding mine, can any one help me out with this, maybe a thread or diagrams on all parts and****emblies?
Hey Willys Guys, this thread is mostly for you guys, was hoping you all may have some helpful things on this subject. Maybe what parts I may be missing and where these part are available at. I think I have everything but I am not sure. Any help would be useful. Thank You.
Show us a picture of what you have...almost impossible to find parts, but not that hard to find complete****emblies. I put power windows in two of my builds, and I know I kept the window mechanisms somewhere. The door latch mechanisms are identical to ones made for Ford cars in the 30's (not quite sure what specific years, but can find out) Little Dearborn in Minnneapolis has NOS ones, and I know I've seen them in the Bob Drake catalog...I'll look. That being said, you must use Willys arms as the Ford ones are different...but the mechanisms are identical right down to the door lock on the passenger side. Must have used the same sub contractor back in the day. g-willys
Hey G-Willys, thank you for the information I will call them and see about getting a catalog of their parts that they sell. If anybody else has a place to get these parts it would greatly appreciated Also wondering what guys are using for body mounts such as rubber mounts or lining material to lay on the frame between the body? I have pics but am not able to down load them right from my camera, my computer is not reading my drives, I have a guy coming to look at that problem, because i have pics i need so i can start my build thread of the car. It always something with computers, seams that way i my life anyway. LOL LOL
There was a guy named Dexter Bennet that reproduced the body mount rubber, but he passed away a few years back. I just use belting material with plys, bought at a farm and home store, and cut it the same as original, and punch a 5/8 hole in each piece...durable, and cheap. See if you can put pictures of your roll up mechanism on here. g-willys
Hey Buddy thank you I have some of that belting material so i will make some mounts out of it. The Pictures are still on my camera so i am going to have a buddy of mine load them on his machine and then mail them to me. my regulators are put away for the winter so i will have to dig them out of my willys parts trailer to see what they look like and then i can let you know. I am just trying to get a just on some of the other thing i can be working on while i wait for parts to show, I am doing the front and rear suspension and chassis right now. I think my front one are a single gear set-up and the rear window one are dual gear. You have been very helpful and i thank you for that.
a Here is a photo of a Willys door lock mechanism, and the (ford part) image in the Drake catalog...they show a couple that are similar, so I am not sure which one is the one. g-willys
