i have a chassis im working on for a guy. it came with what appears to be new wilson welding backing plates that are loaded (installed with all hardwear shoes ect) with buick drums. i popped the little plastic plug out of the wheel cylinder and it has the button inside for the inverted flare seal, not for a copper washer/gasket like the early fords. anyone have a part number for the hose to work with these wheel cylinders? its on a 32 chassis. the problem is i cant ask the owner because he is the third owner of this chassis since it was first put together and either the hoses were lost or never purchased. im running all the brake lines and getting it running but im stalled out on the front hoses
I had a local brake shop make some up for me. they crimped the ends on to the hose length I specified. It is a pretty old school brake shop and they had everything.
I have my brake hoses made at our local hose place. Most larger cities and towns have a shop that can make them...especially around industrial areas that cater to the trucking industry. Seems like I usually pay around $20-25 per hose. I think the wheel cylinder takes a 3/8-24 inverted (female) flare fitting. Also, I typically get the fitting on the opposite end of the hose with a 5/8-18 thread on the outside so I can just use a jam nut instead of a clip to hold it in place in the bracket on the frame. The inside of that fitting end is just like the wheel cylinder, 3/8-24 inverted flare to take a 3/16" hard line. This place looks like they can make what you need: http://www.brakeserviceco.com/ The hose will need to be either 3/16" or 1/4" hydraulic hose.
Call Bob Wilson, he has the part numbers you need. 972-539-2305. I put his brakes on my roadster and he gave me all the numbers for wheel cylinders, shoes, springs and hoses.
