    Hi there
My 55 is getting near ready for paint after an epic battle with rust and some really bad bodged restoration in the past done by a PO . So now with a complete new custom made floor and a mini tub on the rear wheel wells its time to start gathering some more stuff ready for it coming back from paint .
The question i have is what is the cardboard square section stuff that the windlace is stapled to called and where can i find some as i dont seem to be able to get it in England ?

I'm pretty sure the windlace just clips into the alligator looking clips around the door and window frames. If the cardboard square section you are referring to is located under the dash and goes between the door and the firewall/floorboard, that is called the kick panel. That cardboard can be made from just about any type of material using your original panel as a template. Here is a pretty good thread from the main board several years back that shows some good pictures of someones build as the interior was going into his '55 Mainline. Hope this helps

the windlas clips onto the s***** plates above the door but there is a long run of square section cardboard stuff that fits into clips in the body just rear of the door ( this is a 2 door sedan ) and the windlas is stapled onto it and then it is covered by the panel leaving only the beaded edge of the windlas showing
