Saw a sticker for a '47 Stude Champ selling new for about $1500. Two options were "1 polaroid" for $4.95 and "1 extension" for $1.75. Does anyone here have any idea what these were? I know a Polaroid was a camera that used self developing film, but why would that be on a window sticker? I have no idea what "extension" means. Thanks.
I think Fastcar was on to something. Seems these were popular mid century. I also think that "extension" refers to an extension for the visors, not bumpers, because the extensions aren't expensive enough. Thanks Fastcar.
Oh yes...you mentioned the old Polaroid camera's...just happened to have one. It belonged to my uncle...many memories of him at different family events doing his bizarre way of taking pictures with it...he would snap the picture, the thing would make some odd sounds , then he grabbed the tab that hung out the side and pulled then out came some crap and a blank card he would put the card in his arm pit for a few moments and when he took it out ...wow...it was a picture...we thought he had some kind of magic arm pit. And don't forget having to coat the black and white photos with a mini squeegee like stick to stabilize the picture.
My grandfather was a Studebaker man right till the end. His last car was a '64 Lark. Prior to that when I was in junior high and just getting into all things automotive he had a more sporty model, probably about a 1960 or there abouts. Anyway I was all excited to see it had two chrome exhaust pipe tips protruding from under the rear bumper. But surprise, surprise, when I looked under the car one of the "dual" exhaust tips was just a dummy tip bolted onto the bumper to give the illusion of dual exhausts. Could this be the extension referred to?
I've learned everything I know about "Fake bolt-ons" on the "Fake News " from a commentator with "Fake Boobs"
