Does anybody know the windshield requirement on coupes during the early 50's speed trials? I know that cars like the Pierson Bros' coupe had the posts leaned back for Aerodynamics as well as complying with the regulations that the SCTA and Russetta Timing had setup. Someone had told me 6 inches was required but I am not sure about it. Anybody have any history to lend? Such as when did they start regulating height and what were the cars to push the limits or require the enforcement of such a rule?
I don't know why but for some reason in my head, I remember 7 inches was the required length for screens. Anyone else??
Hmm. That would be weird if they have allowed less visible area now as opposed to back in the early 50's. For some reason BobbedT's 7" sticks out from perhaps a book that I had read. What about cars that pushed the boundries or copies of the SCTA rule booklets? Anybody have things like that they could post?
This is a good question. The lower windshield half on my 23 T is 8.5". Im still trying to decide whether to extend it to like 12" or just leave it at 8.5 and cut the stanchions. Im going for an early 50's lakes look. I also wonder what it was for street vehicles? For some reason I think 10".. anyone know?
