Can someone tell me how the wiper arms come off a 55' I installed the electric wiper motor and the arms only go up about 8 inches...It syas you have to take the arms off and then put them back on when the motor has come to a rest in the lower (Blades down) position but i cant seem to get them off. Ive tried putting a screw driver behind them and prying and poking it in the joint and everything else but they dont come off. is there a trick to it?

They are splined, you have to pull back on the blade and pry at the back side of the base at the same time sometimes they may need an over night soak of WD-40 around the base,to reinstall you have to pull back on the blade and push the base down at the same time.

you can make 2 motor adjust ments. its a pain. one is the cross shaft it self on the motor. loosen the pinch bolt and move it a little at a time. the other is more for parking the wiper blades even. is the slide on the end of the motor. this is if you put in the newport motor. take your arms totaly off for the first one. and lay under the dash and watch how they work. then think about which way you need to move the cross shaft to get a better wipe. mine only went about a 1/4 wipe to begin with. i wound up having to bend one of my arms under the dash just a little . but im not sure someone didnt bend it to put there hack job in that i took out.i spent awhile adjusting mine to get them where i wanted them to work perfect. you can get to the pinch bolt with it installed just not easy.

Ok thanks I will try that. I have the newport motor also and its doing the same thing only going up about 1/4 the way up the windshield. Are these wipers supposed to work opposite of each other? like one goes up then the other or are they supposed to both go up at the same time? mine alternate...figured it was something ford designed that way not sure.

You must have the arms hooked up backwards or something. I popped my unit in and it worked fine right out of the gate and required no adjustments.
