Good afternoon and greetings from Winfield Rod&Custom. I would like to open by thanking our friends that brought this to our attention.

On 7-26-2010, we had a message on our machine from our customer regarding the vehicle in question. After talking with the customer for a few minutes, he agreed to e-mail us photos to review. After looking at the photos, the customer was called again and told that we fully intend to re-do the work in question to his satisfaction and in a most timley manner. We will do our absolute best to resolve this because we have a decades old reputation to uphold. To further update all concerned with this matter, the technicians responsible have been dismissed and no longer have a place at Rod&Custom.

    Thank you for your attention
    in this matter. Sincearly,

    Gene Winfield
    Rod&Custom Construction

Wow... That's a gutsy move... Of a kind we don't see too much of anymore...

Here's hoping the final outcome is positive for all involved.

While I read the whole other thread, I didnt post a reply one way or the other, I wanted to see what would happen.
You cant ask for anymore then what Gene posted, to make it right, and quickly .
Hopefully this will have a happy ending for the cars owner.

  9. For sure...that's the response we all knew he would get..
    I second "class act..."

This is why people need to talk to the person or company they are doing business with before they air there dirty laundry

I met Mr. Winfield at the LA Roadster show and after talking to him my impression was that he is a good person. I am not surprised that he has made the offer to make things right.

One question Mr. Winfield, since you to agree that the work was not done right,if the owner doesn"t want to bring it back do you think he is entitled to a refund?

I would not expect anything less from Mr Winfield. The man is a living legend and a person to try to live up to. I hope all will learn thats its not about building a few cars for quick cash but to be able to live a life and have your name respected over the years. I met Gene years ago at a show in Toronto he had his old scrap book just sitting on the floor. It was a slow part of the show so he told me to come into his booth and take a look. It had all his old pics and timing tags. A young guy like me had never seen a real timing tag never mind talking to a racer and one of my kustom car idols. Sorry Gene you are a man among men and we all need to take notice on how you live your life and try to live the same way.

You just couldn’t ask for more then that. From me reading about and seeing Gene’s work over the years in all of the Magazines he’s had articles in plus talking to him in person in Louisville Ky. In 1987 he is the best I hope he stays around for many, many years to come. He just couldn’t let a person doing that kind of work bring his reputation down.

Well, Cuomo73 - you cant ask for any more. The guy did what was right. maybe a public apology and an "I'm sorry" token of appreciation from you is in order here. Lets see what you are made of, sir. We know what GW is all about....

When I used to live in Los Angles , I never ever heard a bad word about Gene Winfield . Shoot, I figgure that anybody with the amount of awards as he has accomplished over the years and lent his name to would truly covet his reputation . I certainly wouldn't hesitate to do business with him . Scrubba

I disagree. If he hadn't posted his beef, he might have never got their attention.

  28. I sure don't blame the original poster.. My how the tide turns so quickly.
As to the poster who said Gene should have replied to the other thread??
He was away while that thread was going and it got closed so no-one else could post.
    Sounds fair enough to me.
Now the wait is to see an outcome.

He never even told them he discovered or knew about the mess... he came here first. Still, the job needs to be fixed and it's good to see that it IS being fixed.

  30. Mute point really.
Do you really think that no-one in the shop saw it like that over a 6 month period?
