I never get tired of seeing Mike Boyd drive that thing! Awesome stuff!

 

I was standing behind the starting line at bowling green last weekend as they got him ready to go. All I have to say is he is a bad man............ It takes a big set to drive that thing. It was really cool to be that close when they fired it off.

 

The very first day I got to go to the drags, I saw Willie Borsch in one of the predecessors to this car (actually, predecessor to the one this is cloned from). I've never been right since. Awesome footage of a truly iconic race car.

 

We used to watch Willie go thru the traps, he'd hold the wheel in one hand, grab the door gunwale in the other, then haze the slicks at 185!

I used to watch him at the line, too...if he sat there for more than a minute, he'd doze off. His push guy would nerf him to wake him up.
(Hmmmmm.....is that where the term 'asleep at the lights' came from?) LOL

Anybody ever see his street 'T' he took to the second Street Rod NATS?
Looked like the Express, but lower, the wing was lower, too. Blown 354 Chrysler.

I was standing beside the Bangshift camera tower when this was filmed. As awesome as it is on film, you really had to be there to totally appreciate it! That is one bad ride!

Have to say it though, the "ride along" would have been WAY better if the edited video had included the actual ride down the strip start to finish. I felt a little ripped off...

That was awesome,but I couldn't get to the mute ****on fast enough when the goof**** started yelling at me at the end

 

Thanks! Looks like he steers that thing with a big stock '40 wheel, and everytime I see the right side p*** It makes me laugh out loud.

 

Look at how "relaxed" his hands look on the wheel.

 

I was there for both of those, Mike is a Driver! Nobody backs 'em up like him and Arnie Beswick, no screwing around with a 'guide' from 660', get it back and get it on! If you can't back up faster than a baby crawls then don't cross the starting line!

I was in the stands during the cross-over p***. One of the craziest things I've ever seen at the drag strip. Then just like nothing ever happened, Boyd laid down a perfect run in the Express!...

 

Thanks Rocky for posting these. I was there and saw the burn out p***. It happened so fast and he was so smooth that it took a while to sink in how dangerous and what a close call it really was.

Willie was a narcoleptic. A hell of a chosen profession for such a problem! If he dozed off in the staging lanes Mouse would whack his helmet to keep him awake.

 

It takes a person with BR*** BALLS to pilot a car like the Winged Express!
