    Congratulations to 2B.

He did a number on us. He comes out hard while we were smoking the tires in 1st & 2nd. Hell-of-a-good-job driving the flathead. Maybe he would give us driving lessons if he ever comes to Kansas City.

Roy Merritt was quick IIRC @ 11.62. He won at Tulsa the night before so I think he won the $500 by winning both nights. Job well done Roy. Now, does Patty get the prize money?

Hiney (Bob Hindman) didn't get to race.....but I'll let him explain. He wasn't too upset though cause he gave me a kiss on the cheek. LOL

I watched the race between Cowboy Bob's flathead and Golden's GMC earlier, with Golden's car winning on the big end with a 12:45 et. At least that is what I think the et was. Couldn't make it out forsure from where I was in the staging lanes. So I had turned a 12:44 & a 12:42 et's, so I was worried about the final outcome. Then I happened to get the lane that had bad oil downs, but decided to leave as I always do, pedal to the medal. My flathead hooked like Las Vegas call girl & turned my best et ever at MoKan, a 12:30. But I knew that they would be smokin on the top end, I slid down in my seat as much as the belts would allow & pushed on the gas pedal as hard as I could. I couldn't believe that they didn't come flying by, I was elated to be sure. Thanks to the cleanup crew at MoKan for the good job on the oil spills in my lane, I won!!!
Special thanks to My crew chief & Friend, Gerry Troedel for all the help & support.
Also for the ones who have not seen the Golden rail in person, it is a work of art. When they figure out how to get the GMC power to the track, look out. Thank for the congrads,
    2B

I dont know why they did not Bob race. It is ********, he has won that race several time. Why would you not let a past champ race other than being a **** HEAD. Bob is not in the best of health and it took alot for him to even get thier. I never saw were you had to pre register, or a number of cars that could race. I hope to meet the old boy that told Bob and others that came all the way from Arizion they could not race. Because I plan on letting him know what I think. This really burns me up. I would understand if this was all post before hand. I am glad the race went will that is because Carl Blanton know how to run a track. If you do not know who I am ask around I am sure someone will point you my way.

    Todd,

AMEN, brother...AMEN. Hiney is without a doubt the biggest supporter of the HA/GR movement and to tell him he couldn't race was a shock to him and all the rest of the HA/GR guys, especially when you looked at some of the junk that was allowed to run.

I think that will be my last time at MoKan.

I guess you could look at it another way......that Ryan owns the HAMB, the name, the forum and the race, he in cohorts with others wrote the rules for HA/GR. Maybe he really doesn't like the rules being messed with??
He also said clearly months ago that you could pre register and that there would be a 200 entry limit.

Bob told me at the track that they pulled the valve cover off the motor and it was full of rust so they pulled the plug. He never said ANYTHING about anybody not letting him run. I think there may be some confusion of the facts here or else Bob failed to mention it to me - which is not like Hiney to be quiet :)

Congratulations Cowboy Bob. Sounds like you and Ron had a teriffic race. I've watched the Youtube videos of your past runs and you really have come up with great driving and shifting technique. Ron, Ya just got too much torque! Gotta kill the bottom end a bit.:D

Did any SDRA cars preregister? And run? How many HA/GR cars were there? I sure hope this wasn't an intentional snub. No room for that when a lot of good folks are working hard to make this concept grow.

348 ran his SDRA car. I don't think anybody was singled out and not allowed to run. I got here around 9:30, and the line was about a mile long to the south, stretched 100 yards to the East, and no telling how far North. I got in, but it didn't seem that long before they announced "No More". I would be pissed, if I had pre-registered, then not be allowed to run. It must be, that some non-registered got in. Ryan had posted that pre-registrations were low. I believe the bottleneck at the gate created the problem, and it couldn't have anything to do with rules.

    mudflap,

Bob parked (not pitted) next to us as soon as he came in and immediately told me wasn't allowed to compete. They had involked the 200 car limit on him as soon as he drove in, He had towed Todd Martin's Jimmy to MoKan and was going to race it cause Bob's car isn't ready, and Todd told him to take it to MoKan and have some fun.

He and I were comparing the roller rockers on Todd Matrin's Jimmy to my roller rockers when we found the rust covering the valve train.

As layed back as Bob is, it was a bitter pill for him to swallow, especially since Todd Martin's car is one of the fastest HA/GR's built to date. He and Roy Merrit (348) would have put on a good show.

I agree that some things went wrong and some racers have the right to be upset. We have to focus our scorn on the right reason. We can say they lacked the logistic capacity to handle the overload. We can look back in hindsight and say, "Where was your contingency plan?". I don't think we can honestly believe they said "Here comes Soandso, let's tell him we're full, then let that guy after him race."

I went to the Tulsa sight. Here's a link to what 348 said:
"I am in So. Dakota right ow but I wantedo post something about te HAMB drags at MOKAN. I realize that MOKAN rents the track to HAMB for this event but this was a fiasco. I am never going again. All the SDRA cars need tostay home because you are lumped in to th dragster cl***. That means that all dragsters run heads up blown Chrysler against GMC six plusthey had no eliminations for th cl*** anyway. I loaded up after the starting line guy said there would be no eliminations. Race Tulsa where there is some real racers running th show. :mad:Roy

Roy, Roy, Roy........ If not for the HAMB and the HAMB drags there wouldn't be an SDRA. Ryan has been clear about the cars with autos running in the dragster cl***. It is nothing new and the Hornet has done it the past couple of years. The HAMB drags is a special event. Ryan was not prepared for the amount of cars this year and I thought they did well considering the situation. I don't think it is cool if they let some non preregistered cars through after the announcement but on the other hand anyone who pre registered didn't have any problems so whose fault is that???
There has never been any eliminations for any cl***es EXCEPT HA/GR. Nothing new there either. It would have to be a 2 day event to run eliminations for all the cl***es and Ryan has chosen what he has chosen.
The HAMB drags is more of a gathering of like minded individuals and a chance to run some cars down the track that really have no home at any other races.
To disrespect MOKAN and the HAMB drags on another public forum was low cl*** in my opinion. I am a real racer and MOKAN has its flaws but so does Tulsa. You should be glad there are still tracks around for us to run at these days.

Yep ****, visited with Lippy for awhile. Wish you could have made it out. It was huge. Glad to hear you got your car running. Need some pics and video!
We've got a match race at an 1/8 mile track in Iowa this weekend. Track record is a 4.16 e.t. so I am planning on coming home with the new track record at around 4 flat or maybe even a 3.99 if the track will hold it.

I will comment because my comments on the SDRA board were posted here. I am a racer and I built the car to race. It is a cl*** car, that is a car for a specific cl*** like in the old days. The HAMB drags is a happening not a race, kind of like Woodstock was a happening not a concert. The concept of the HAMB cars was first conceived with autos and stick, the Hornet was built with an auto from the first and won in 2005. The auto was banned the next year but Bob always brought it back to run anyway. As for me if I can't run in a cl*** were I run against like cars and there is eliminations to declare a winner then I am not going to pull a trailer hundreds of miles and pay $40 to make timed runs down the track with no outcome. If that is what it is all about, fine, but that is not my cup of tea. The races at Tulsa are races and that is what I enjoy. My comments were for the SDRA guys and gals. I applaud 2B for his win in HA/GR, a finer person you won't find than 2B. I just wish that there were more cl***es like that but as was stated I knew it but went anyway. There were 3 SDRA cars there I just got there early enough to get entered. Don Alexander was therewith his SDRA car and was standing in line when all registration was stopped. I had a friend from Eagle Rock Missouri, Mike Dodge, who brought his g***er and wasn't allowed to run. It is not sour g****s I just like racing where I have a chance to win or a winner is declared by a process of eliminations. If people don't like my opinion that's okay. Roy
