    Hey 38,
I'd probably use a 3-bolt carb instead of the 4-bolt.
and really keeping the stock one to use as a "just in case" manifold may be a better idea.
Do you know what the cfm is of those stock carbs?
A Burrell or a Cyclone would be so much easier.

Travis, I think they are somewhere around 350-385. Stock should be a Carter WCD 2-barrel or Stromberg AAV 26 2-barrel.

Burrell makes a 2x2, but Kevin at Cyclone doesn't make an intake for these. He does make wicked heads, though!

Damn, I really thought I could bait you into showing your talent on a 3x2, or 4x2!:D

Well guys not much has happened with the 40,
and fortunately it hasn't become a shelf in my garage either!

November was kind of my cutoff time, as it was the imaginary year mark,
    (plus a couple months anyway...)
There were/are a couple other hot rod obligations I needed to address for friends,
as well as the teardown of my RPU that basically took its place for my own project time.
(well and actually making money too!)

I've come a long way on the RPU,
and i'll start that thread when the time comes.

My goal with the 40 is to get it running and not have to sell it,
which has happened with other projects and it just doesn't feel good.
If I can get the RPU running for the summer shows,
than the 40 can come back to the shop.

One thing I have been doing is collecting and cleaning some of the parts needed,
gas tank, brake parts, front spring etc.
Its just stuff that doesn't photograph well.

Anyway thanks for the interest guys,
and i'll get some updates as soon as they come!

    TP

Been searching for this post for a little bit, be honest I was scared when I first opened it! That green coupe is gorgeous! Was telling a friend about it. Know this thread started over a year ago, but I still dig it!

I was little scared to look also. I only seen two chopped 40's that I thought looked right, this one of them. Hell of a job bringing this one back from the dead. I bet the guy you bought the from thinks he got the better end the deal. Looking good keep us posted!!

Zibo, Just reread this thread. Love the lines of your Hot Rod Forty ! I know you were concerned about how to chop a Forty - but I do believe you did one awesome job ! I can just imagine this one all painted up and out cruising san Diego . . . . . Bet thos headers have a mean note.
