Hey guys , we all know to well we have to get ready for winter ( I hate the cold) I'm doing all the pre work on the coupe and my daily drivers, but I got to thinking it's time to drag out the long johns and thick socks, dusting off the propane heaters and stuff, switch from beer to rum or something. What's your plan? Ps, o/t I know, I'll probaly get banned for this one
Just getting ready to spend loads of money on keroscene thats all. If you thought gas prices are high ,Over 4.00 bucks a gallon
Yeah I drug all my 'cold weather' **** out two weeks ago. I broke my back in 2001 and have about a pound of metal rods and screws in it, so the cold (especially damp) makes me miserable. It doesn't get too cold here relative to some parts of the country but if I had my way it'd never get below 70 degrees anywhere. I have a propane wall mounted heater and an electric oil radiator heater, that keeps it shirt sleeve comfortable in my shop.
drag out the heater... kero is the same price as diesel here so im used to getting raked over the coals because of my f250 . 3.99 a gallon actually dropped 20 cents about a week ago from 4 .19
got a new heat pump installed in the shop so its nice and toasty, and just got my heater working in my shop truck so i can drive an old car year round. changed the 2 dailys oil, ****** fluid and what not before it got cold,i dont know why but i always like all fresh fluids going into winter.
Yep, I can relate to that this is in my neck And this is my lower back I can stand it till the temp drops below 60
My garage is so cold in the winter because it is cold up here in CANADA! Over the past few years I spent a lot of time in the garage but this year this is what I did to prepare for winter... I took the 55 out for one more run. Filled up the gas tank and put in the gasoline stablizer. Drove it home. Dumped the oil and put new oil in the transmission and motor. Fired it up and let it warm up. Fogged the engine thru the carb and removed the spark plugs and fogged the each cylinder. Pushed it in the garage and jacket it up so the weight is off the tires. Disconnected and pulled out the battery. Looked it over and once more and cursed the fact that I live in Canada and I am going to miss driving it for 6 months. Locked the garage door and went in the house for a drink. Now with all that said I do have to pull the rear end out of it at some point. So I will be pulling out the propane heaters and putting on the flannel carharts! J
I drag the fire pit close to my work area (driveway). There's nothing like a traditional fire to keep me going.
No offence Grits,......but I hope your hunch is wrong buddy. Last year was as bad as I ever want to see. I'm old and my skin's gettin thin,.....I HATE winter,....that's right I shouted. HATE. And with respect to your original question my friend; I've got the winter clothes out, stacked and boxed up all my project's parts for a fresh start next spring. When it's warm. Yeah,...... that's right, I'm a puss,.....so what? My hat's off to you guys up north, especially those of you in Canada. Wow.
As far as winterizing the roadster, I took on a job painting a buddy's Chevelle and told him he needs to keep my car in his heated garage till I'm done. I have a hanging heater in the garage, and I don't think the big door is goin to open for a while.
My little 110 heater, long johns, and Carhartts..plus,those ****ty lights on a pole that I hate when it's hot,I love in the winter.. I need all the light I can get when I weld, and those lights put out a lot of heat. Also,I recently discovered heat packs that you put in your shoes..They help alot with cold feet..Now I just need a big heat pack for my *** when I'm sitting on the cold floor for hours...
And I thought I was gonna see a thread on installing a quick change..... Oh well, back out into the shop to Halibrandize myself....
I don't even have a garage, so I got my Acadian in my second driveway with the car cover on it. Hope it's not raining or too cold this weekend so I can start it up and move it a bit. I got some interior parts I'm gonna work on this winter. The rest of the time build some HAMB friendly model cars and check out the HAMB.
I'm "Winter"izing my car right now because summer is here and I need the sweet sound of straight cut gears. Pics soon. Sorry guys...nice and warm here.
Winterize my ***. You guys are barking up the wrong otree. We have had a week of -16 or cooler. I can't imagine what january will bring. Maybe -70 this year
This is an easy fix. Step one: Find a Hamber with a large airplane. Step two: Grab your summer clothes, and a little cash. Step three: Fly your ***es down to the Southern hemisphere. Between Australia and New Zealand, we have enough room to house you all, and enough scorching sunshine, and hot rod events to share around. BUT, in return, we will expect to be flown to the Northern hemisphere when winter kicks in here.
Winter? What is this Winter thing you talk off? God-damn I love Australia!! You know I have a Jumper, thats right only one in my wardrobe that I have not worn in about 3 years. 25*C (77*F, or 298.15 kelvin) That is ****** cold here. Doc.
I'm 64 today & to think 40 years ago I changed engines for 100 buck & trans for 35 bucks all outside with bare hands as long as it was a least 30 degrees out side here in Wi. Now I have a warm garage to work in. 55 is agood temp, 70 I'd be taking a nap.
I remember cold, hell I grew up in St. Louis. I've bench-pressed turbo 350's in the snow, microwaved oil so it would pour into the engine, opening hoods at work and getting a load of snow down your back from the car above you. All day shocks and bushing jobs that required a torch... I do miss winter around Christmas time. Even after 20 years in Tucson, it's still weird.
Winterize. Let's see, I have to buy a new pair of shorts and pick a car Tshirt to wear to the next toy run.
