Ive looked around for parts for a Winters QC rear but cant seem to find what im looking for on the Winters site or other areas of the internet so hoped to find the answer here .

I'm currently doing so service work on a winters hot rod steel tube and bell quick change rear end .

Unfortunately the rear wheel bearings are shot to pieces and need replaced but the only reference I can find on the bearing is : Winters P/N 86878. None of the usual bearing information that might enable a local bearing supplier to match a quality bearing replacement .

I haven't measured the bearing . I was hoping to just turn one up , get it bought and call it done .
Does anyone in here have any information regarding the rear wheel bearings on the Winters rear end equivilent part numbers etc so I can start a search in the hope I can uncover a bearing from a local bearing supplier and save having one sent over from the USA and the additional cost that will incur :)

    many thanks .

  3. I would think that as long as you know the type of "ends" on the tubes, these should be standard parts. My guess is that they are probably Ford ends. Maybe take some pictures of the tube ends and post them. Also, measure the ID/OD and width of the bearings - they have to be standard stuff.

  4. Did you try calling Winter's and ask about that part number?

    Scotland !
The rear bearings will be Ford Big bearing or Torino based on the info from the Winters site, although I did notice that for both, the outer diameter of the bearings were the same. I haven't checked the dimensions of the housing . I had hoped to find more info embedded on the bearing and being the weekend had hoped to find some info on the bearing so I could approach the local bearing suppliers with the bearing numbers on Monday. The Winters part number will mean nothing to them . I appreciate that some of the automotive bearings can be fairly unique , but its worth checking .

  6. All you need is measurements of the bearing and whether it is sealed or double sealed. With that info you can find bearings at any bearing house. Or call Winters.

Yup, the appropriate numbers for all those dimensions are normally on the bearings , but winters have there own part number on the bearing that doesn't reference the sizes. I was hoping that someone would have the correct bearing ref numbers and I could get something locally armed with the correct information.
If there is no information available I will get the shaft in the press on Monday and take the old bearing with me for them to measure and cross reference. It would have been easier if the embossed bearing numbers were not replaced with the winters unique part number reference .

Hot Rod Works (H.R.W.) recently sold and moved to Waco Texas from Nampa Idaho, they are a Winters dealer and have been very good to work with. 208-455-7971 You might give them a try they stocked most of the Winters parts.
