Wire basket wheel manufacturer

I have a 1966 Chevy II that has the old style wire basket wheels on it. They are the rims that are the chrome smoothie type and then have the wire baskets that cover the front with a 3 bar spinner in the middle. I love the look of these on my car, but I was wondering if they ever made these style of wheels in 15in wheel? My car currently has the 14x7's but I would like to find two 15in wheels for the back so I could run a set of drag radials. I kind of want to keep this style of wheel since I like the look of a wire wheel, but still have the strength of a steel wheel. Just wondering if anyone knows of the manufacturer of this style of wheel or knows where I could find a pair of 15in rims with the wire baskets?

I know of those wheels,were they made by Appliance ?

Some of the smoothie trailer wheels look very similar.

 

I have a set of wheels as you describe on my 57 Olds. They are 15" wheels and are American Racing. Mine don't have the added spinners. Unfortunately, I don't think they are still made. I am looking at replacing them with either chrome smoothies or custom painted wheels from Wheel Vintique. The baskets are in good shape by the wheels are beginning to show their age with rust. Have thought about getting them re-chromed but hard to find a local chromer and not sure it would even be worth it.

 

The rims that I have sound similiar to the ones that you have. Mine are 14x7 smooth chrome rim with 3.5in of backspacing. They have a fairly long center cap that pushes through the back of the rim. After it is bolted up, it then has a chrome cover that covers the lug nuts. Then the the two piece wire basket is placed over that, then the spinner is bolted on to the center cap to hold everything in place. From a distance it looks like a true spoked wheel, till you get up close and see the chrome rim behind the spokes. Mine are starting to rust around where the lug nut cover on the rims. I need to find some brass wool to see if it will clean it up. I've had the wheels are the car now for about 10 years now ( my chevy II is the first car I bought when I was 13 ). I think I could make the center cap and spinner work with a chrome smoothy 15in wheel, but it sounds like it might be kind of hard to find the wire baskets for a 15in wheel. The reason I want to go with a 15in on the rear is so I can run a 235/60R15 drag radial on it. That way I can keep it kind of a sleeper with the wire wheel look, yet still have the strength of a steel wheel.
