Any reason NOT to step up to 14 gauge wire on rear turn signals/ tail light wiring? Long run to rear of 55 Chevy step side, thought it couldn’t hurt. Stock looks like 18?

  2. Never a reason, in my opinion, for NOT using larger wire. I wired my avatar with one size larger than original on everything.

Should be fine, especially if you decide at a later date to add a third brake light or something else back there.

No reason you need to, but it never hurts to run larger, except where it might not be as flexible, or space is an issue.

14 will be fine. Bonus if you get that trailer wire that has a jacket over it, so it will take more effort to damage it...assuming you're using the truck as a truck....

  6. Wire gauge gets to be real important in aircraft due to weight. Anything that goes into a plane is considered payload. In a car, no such issues exist.

Extra cost, extra weight, takes up more space, might not fit into connectors etc, the higher voltage reaching the lamps will reduce their life and increase brightness. Other than that, no problems.
