Hey fella's so I got rebel kit and am starting to wire the 302 with HEI distrib and one wire delco...My question is I've installed a Alternator Connection Kit that I had for another project...It includes the 2 pronged connection, alternator to bat/solenoid postwire with fusible link and then a line from the battery side of solenoid to Ign terminal. This line has a diode installed. Now I'm stumped where to start the rebel wire harness as I've byp***ed several steps in their instructions and can't seem to get a clear start...Do I start wiring the solenoid to Ignition switch? or have I missed a step? I did install the coil wire to Solenoid(rebel's) as well as the starter to the M post on solenoid...So realistically I could "hot start," the car via solenoid at this point. Thanks fella's
so your trying to put a wire alternator connection kit that has a 2 prong connector for a 3 wire alt. on a 1 wire alt??? I dont see the reasoning for this maneuver?? how bout you ditch the alternator wiring kit and just wire in the wiring harness kit like it tells you too?
I understand not staying with the wire instructions, here's what I'm trying to explain. And this setup is for a one wire alt
Okay, i'm confused, I thought with a one wire means reg is inside alt...you use the 2 prong clip in that comes in the box with the alt...clip in the 2 prong and run the red wire to the alt/bat terminal on the alternator...the white, "exciter," wire you don't use...then using one wire 10 Gage from alt you wire the alt to the battery post side of the solenoid? Right?
A one wire alternator is just that 1 wire, a large one to the battery or starter lug connected to the battery. There's some conversion kits out there that swap the internal regulator and a small jumper is used but that isn't a quote " 1 wire" unquote alternator. It's converted .
Okay, I understand, i'm going to bag the kit and start over...in the meantime I inspected the distributor and the rotor bushing is all fried...so, need one of those to run anyways...thanks fella's
I talked with David from Rebel wire He answered my question...and confirmed I just need to still wire from the solenoid to ign switch...no worries...
So bob from rebel also emailed help me out a ton also I learned I don't need to wire the I terminal due to having a hei distributor not points. Just wire directly Dom coil to ignition. Never knew that one
