Running wiring to a '39 Ford taillight. I'm trying to figure out how to get the wiring to the light. The previous owner, I bought a partial project, ran the wiring along the driver side frame. To get the wires across to passenger side I was thinking to run the wires through vacuum tubing which runs through an opening between the frame rear most cross and fuel tank, see picture. Anybody see any safety issues?? I don't really feel like rewiring.
It's silicone rubber. Think of it as a long grommet protecting the actual wires from rubbing on a couple of sheet metal edges. Overkill maybe.
Lots of sharp edges under any car. I highly recommend using a conduit. I like the asphalt impregnated cloth kind like these cars had originally. Comes in various sizes.
I’ve used landscaping irrigation tubing on several vehicles. It’s hard plastic, comes in various sizes, looks clean, and the most important thing, it protects the wires. One of my grandsons scoffed at the idea when I shoved a piece of tubing down the frame rail of his C10 . He seems to think I’m stupid. But he’s the one driving around without taillights and no wires to hook them up.
