    Hey everyone,
I've got a single speed windscreen wiper unit that does about 45 cycles per min. To get my rod registered, I must have wipers that will do 25 and 45 cpm.

I have seen a two speed switch but can't locate one locally... any other ideas??

Maybe you can run it thru a rheostat, like on a headlight switch to dim the instrument panel lights. You may be able to temporaraly run them thru a headlight switch to get them to go slower so you can get your car registered.
Maybe a blower motor switch works the same way.

Rheostat or just a resistor. Should be able to put one in series. If you wanted to you could add a switch that bypasses the rheostat, which would give you 2 speeds.

  4. Hi, no experts here but a thought or two. The rheostat may work, the blower switch usually has a variable resistor. If you have a look at one,(like a 70-80 chevy), youll see three different sized coils that represent the three speeds. Each offers up different resistance to make different voltage to the motor. My suggestion is a mid 60's GM or Ford 2speed wiper motor, and switch if necessary. I think if you were to use a headlight switch, it'll work for the inspection, but may burn up the motor or the wiring when you need to use it. The old amp draw deal. Good luck.
