Haywire also sells a very simple kit which is nothing more than an elaborite toggle and a great set of instructions. It is wired just like a column. Nothing needed except a flasher. Cancels turn when brakes are applied and seperates front from rear just like the staulk. No relays, or other jiberish to fool with. It is a real KISS unit.

  3. I came up with a circuit to use relays to run turn signals, brake lights, and hazard lamps. It just needs a little mini toggle switch under the edge of the dash for the turn signals, and another toggle switch on the dash for when you want to click it to emergency flashers. The circuit took a while to figure out and I don't think I could describe it in words. It also powers the turn signal indicators off of the relays that provide power to the front turn signals.

I will look at the Ford Courier wiring diagram to see if you could use their relay setup instead of all this mish-mash that is being suggested. I can send you a schematic of how to do it with two relays and a toggle switch. PM me if interested.

American Auto Wire makes a really good toggle turn signal switch...Unfortunetly their website ****s. Your best bet is to call and ask them about it. 856-933-0801
We've thought about building one here at Rebel Wire, but just don't have the time to do the design work right now.

Speedway has a solid state unit that you use with 2 momentary contact switches. I am going to use this on my "t" with Camaro
berlinetta steering column that has no turn signal switch.

I posted a diagram on here a couple years back using diodes and a single DPDT switch. See if search brings it up. I could draw it out for you if you'd like when I get home.

Lets you use single rear lights for brake and turn.

Got this from Skip Redio when I was going to use a double throw single pole switch with existing brake lights.

That's pretty much how mine came up when I drew it up this weekend, Dreadman, I would go ahead and use this.

  11. Thanks guys. One quick, dumb question, are all relays created equal, I have one here that has several numbers on it, like 85, 87a, 87, 86 and 30, made by Bosch 12v 20/30 amp.

  12. every relay i have ever used has had those numbers on them. Bosch is a fine relay , i think they set that standard

More or less, yes. The only difference will be single pole double throw vs. single pole single throw (usually there will be a diagram on the relay body stating it's a SPDT with 87 and 87a both being activated when the relay is powered) also, in some occasions there maybe a diode in the relay which will require you to have 85 and 86 wired correctly as it will not work if the polarity is wrong. Once again, a diagram is usually on the relay body outlining that as well.

hey, go pick up the latest issue of rod and custom (feb) they show a step by step of a toggle switch install. with part numbers from american autowire, the kit they install is called the highway 15 kit, the american autowire switch i used on the crush was easy to wire up, only took 6 connections and the part number is 500148 they call it a toggle turn switch, its the same one they install in the artical too.

i also have sequential turnsignals on the rear of mine and all lights work and dont affect the brake lights, george
