    I have a lighted 20amp switch ,a bosch relay , and an 3 speed R10 OD transmission.
    58gmc 1/2ton truck

Need help with the wiring from the relay.
    85- #12 wire ground
    30- #10 wire fused battery
    86- #12 wire power from switch"trigger wire "
87- #10 wire leaves the relay going to governor or solenoid?
Do I need to wire up both somehow?

the governor provides ground to the relay, and the relay switch contact provides power to the solenoid.

    So....

    85 to gov
30 to ignition switched power, with a fuse suitable for the size of wire you are using, probably 10 or 15 amps max
86 to enable switch, which gets it's power from the same place as 30
    87 to solenoid

Bosch type relays are actually pretty easy to understand since they are essentially a switch.

    it's the overdrive that's tricky

  9. Like squirrel said 87 goes to the solenoid. IF you want to incorporate the governor then you can wire it to #85 and either still run the toggle switch to #86 or run #86 to an ignition feed.

  10. Wire it the way Squirrel says, that's the best way if you're not running the full system (with kickdown switch). Having the governor wired in will save you a lot of up-and-downshifting at slow speeds. Also install the OD cable, you'll want that too.

And if this is your first OD trans, be aware they have some peculiarities. If the OD isn't locked out with the cable, the car will 'freewheel' forward when parked (just like it's in neutral) unless it's put into reverse. You also can't manually disengage the OD when moving except when the governor switches it out of OD at low speed or if the trans is 'unloaded' during shifting. Failure to watch this can lead to OD damage. You also get almost no engine braking going down hills while in OD, on long hills you can run out of brakes.

  11. Also never use reverse with the cable pushed in (o/d ready to engage). If you want to use the system as stock without a switch under the pedal you can use a monetary contact switch to ground and your points. When you want to kick it out of o/d just push the switch, then let off the gas to get back into o/d.

Here is my governor. Think something is broke off. Maybe i can just go from the power switch to the solenoid
    30&85 fused power
    85 ground
    87 to solenoid odgovenor.JPG o_O??
