I have wired several cars used centech, painless, and Ron francis ,a all were good.I liked painless for muscle cars,Centech for my 30's and 40's cars.wiring can be intimidating .just remember if you lay your wiring to and from you won't go wrong.I like to separate the wires into 3 groups, starting ,charging, lighting.Cant go wrong.
When you say "wire a control lead from the gnd of the relay thru a switch" , I am confused,, I'm not sure how this is accomplished. This is the first car I've rewired..Give me a spray gun any day!!! lol
What he means is to use the ground run through a separate switch as a override to kill the pump if needed. This is a good safety feature, and I always put a separate switch ahead of an electric fuel pump relay. I would prefer an override switch to be on the hot circuit myself, so if the ground wire got pinched and shorted I could still shut it off if I switched the hot. If a hot shorts it simply blows the fuse, so less apt to create a problem.
