Sorry, I entered pictures with no question. I'm looking to eliminate the old splice block. I saw this and using 2 they would work. I need to be able to unplug if needed. Does anyone know of something better? Thanks, Kurt
That trailer connector has 18 ga wire, and some of the wires in your picture look much larger. This type terminal block comes from many sources with varying numbers of connections. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Elec...MIjJul58f22QIVESOBCh3EFw3uEAYYBCABEgLL0fD_BwE
I used the trailer connectors on my '57 because I needed a disconnect. (my lenses and buckets come out as a unit) to make bulb replacements easier. However, I was doing everything posible to eliminate wire splices, so I searched the local auto stores and found some that were just the connectors, not prewired as the ones you show. They had the push-on type terminals where a v-shaped blade is forced into the wire's protective jacket. The only problem I had was the wiring in the Ron Francis Express kit is cross-linked double jacketed. It's very tough and you have to actually cut notches in the wire where that mentioned blade seats because the blade won't penetrate it. I did add a zip tie around the two connectors after connecting to prevent them from separating. If you don't mind wire splices, the ones you're showing will work, and they can be found in most auto parts stores. I agree with 40cpe....18 ga is too small.
I used these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Blue-Sea...ash=item4662cfc6c2:g:CdQAAOSwX~dWjZC-&vxp=mtr Be sure to use shrink wrap on the terminal connectors.
On these splice blocks, some are internally connected as a double - one wire going in, two wires going out (parking lights) and maybe headlights.
LOL.......I just noticed the ebay ad details...........2.19 and free shipping from Hong Kong. Hell, I wonder what the post office would charge us to return it to Hong Kong? Jeff.............shrink wrap? Did you mean heat shrink tubing.........or is there some secret tricks with shrink wrap I haven't heard about.
I missed the Hong Kong Part LOL I got mine at Autozone but NAPA also has them too. Heat shrink tubing I guess is probably correct,I'll have to brush up on speaking Texan
Most of the strips need a jumper to make one of more terminals common. I used Thomas & Betts stuff on my car, that was under the dash.
These are similar to the ones I have on my car. I used 2 terminal strips under my dash, one for gauge power and the other for gauge lights. The jumpers make it easy. https://www.ebay.com/p/Blue-Sea-921...500-Series-Blocks/1401334127?iid=263412402851
