Well tomorrows the big day, starting bright an early im breaking lose the 65 year old stock rear suspension from my 46 ford tudor to install the TCI parallel spring set up i got from speedway. I've got sunday and monday to make it happen hopefully ive bought enough kroil and drill bits to make it happen. This is where the luck comes in, the parts look great. Very sturdy looking and great looking welds ect. however the directions give rough locations of 4 of the 28 holes it looks like ill need to drill into my frame rails. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that it makes a lot more since when im laying under the dang thing haha. ill keep you posted
Haven't done that one but we did do a parallel leaf kit on the 32 3W Coupe, fit great and rides great too. No complaints.
yeah, right now my biggest concerns are being able to get a good angle to drill laying under the car and avoiding any binding in the mounts/shackles
Tim, you probably already know this, but you can drop the entire old suspension out by simply unbolting the spring U bolts in the center of the rear spring, then taking the clamp off of the back of the transmission that goes around the torque tube. After you cut a few minor items like brake lines, emergency brake cable, etc it will roll right out of there like a hand truck. BTW, do not throw away the old rear brake setups, I have found out (very pleasantly ) that a set of the backing plates with all hardware bring as much as the entire rear axle ***embly. You have between $ 150-$ 200 sitting there, and you will still have the rear axle setup to sell for about that much again. Strange, but true. Also, be sure to block the car up real good with some heavy duty jack stands and maybe a couple extra jacks under the frame for insurance. You don't want to be bench pressing your 46. Don When you roll the rear end ***embly out from under your car it will look like the one in the picture, plus the torque tube will still be attached.
Yeah kinda surprised no ones jumped on them in the cl***ifieds for that reason. Either way looks like U bolts and one dog bone connector on the one friction shock that's still attached and it should roll out. Motor/trans are out already so shouldn't be to bad. Ill let you all know how it goes.
