Has anyone narrowed the ends of an uncut wishbone by heating and pushing together, as in the case of a 1932 bone to fit the perch bolt holes on a 34 axle? Has anyone tried this? Would there be any issues such as alignment etc. to correct the 7/16" difference between the two?
32 to 36 axle are identical dimensionally …. Your wishbone is either not what you think it is or bent.
Like was said; 32 to 36 is 2" perch boss...but I can't imagine what you have there with 7/16" wider? Could this be a big truck?..I have never measured one of those, though.
Not sure this will answer your question but let me tell you something I did that might help. I am putting a top loader 4 speed behind my flathead in a '36 and I did not want to split the wishbones. Because the stock '36 wishbone is narrow in the rear as it comes to a triangulated point I was having interference problems with the wishbone and the transmission sump. To get more room around the sump, I got a Model A wishbone ball section, cut out the original '36 part and welded in the A's part. So, you might have to rework your bones by cutting the back area out, position the bones on the axle as you desire and weld it all back up. Again, not sure if this can apply to what you have.

32-36 axles are 2" at the perch mount. 28-31 and 37-48 are all 2 1/4". The previously mentioned big truck wishbones are 2 5/8" wide at the axle mount.
To answer your original question, yes, you can heat the forging at the ball of the wishbone and carefully bend them to suit your needs. Just don't get it too hot, and don't try to force the cooling.
Need louvers, after re-reading the OPs post i guess it could be taken this way, however the spacing at the 34 axle is the same as a 32, no heating and bending is needed.

No, I realize that, I just ***umed he had one leg of a bone that was bent due to the weird 7/16" measurement he was talking about. Unless something was quite visably bent at the spring perch bosses, 7/16" wouldn't happen...
