  1. I want to back up what has been said about ElPolacko, yes, I consider him a friend but his fabrication and knowledge base is off the chart. Temper that with common sense and I consider him a go-to pal for suspension questions. Got off the phone a bit ago with hime over related and non-related drivel. How many people on here put their phone number in their profile?! OK, maybe he aint that bright ;)

  2. Very well said.

Let's disect your remark a bit more. I gather from the photo you chose that you are referring to the tubing intersection ahead of the threaded tube for the rod end.
You cite breaking the weld. The interesting thing is the role that a radius rod or hair-pin, split bone, whatever, plays here. It is an axle locating device. It is under compression 98% of the time. It is either pushing the axle as the car moves ahead, a light compression load, or it is stopping the car as the brakes and wheels drag the car down from speed, a heavy compresion load. The only time it is tension is when these same actions happen in reverse. That is a terribly small amount of the total time in use and at a fraction of the loading that the car sees in forward motion.

This joint is never in sheer, never cycles in lateral loading, if properly installed, it sees little in the way of leverage forces. It looks like a very nice tig bead. The company has a fine reputation for quality and the engineering is proven. What exactly is your issue? Your qualifications?

You are tampering with defamation based on an unqualified opinion and no experience. What was that? I thought I heard a graceful retraction, maybe an apology?

Go overbuild your stuff with iron pipe and .250 wall square tubing. I'll use good parts from good builders.

    Quoted for truth!

Knowledge is a deflating truth in life. The more you have of it, the less you realize you know and your desire to gather more is increased. Those armed with very little knowledge and an at***ude of self righteousness only bring pain and misery on themselves.

Just to show you how this part is attached and how much load is on this part of the hair pin, I unbolted it and had to physically pull it down this much. The other side is still attached and doing the duty of both sides. Seriously though, there is less than 10 pounds of resistance to move this up and down. I can't imagine a scenario where there is going to be enough shear load on any of those welds where I need to worry about the structural integrity of the hair pin.
