With no NASCAR to watch for 6 weeks I guess there will be more progress on all the HAMB Projects.

Good question. Long gone are the days when the manufacturer had to make 500 copies of the car they raced.

Amen to that **** too. If it wasn't in the rule book Smokey thought it was legal. Read his books.

Decades ago I was a casual watcher at best, now I don't watch it at all and certainly don't understand the whole restart section thing.
If there's one guy out pacing everyone else then they need to step up their programs, not wait on the restart so everyone is all bunched up again, so stupid.

Thank you for the You Tube link Old iron 440! I feel so much better I DID NOT MISS A THING. Third rate camera work, but glad to see the #1 car win.

I got a 30 day free trial on Prime Video. The 600 was almost 5 hours long.

Seems kind of dumb to me. You have a sport with a continuously dwindling audience and then make it harder to watch. I record it and watch the last 20 laps. 400 hundred laps of left turns is a bit much for anybody

The Racing thing across all forms of ,
It has became a Double edge sword,
When tracks / Venues open , Spectators
Where up close where Action is ,
Part of , Now over the years Laws , Lawyers, Insurances has push spectators Far from . I was around, Close to 20 ish tracks 70 - Mid 90s , N Va ,S Md ,W Va Dirt , oval , drag ,pulling , motorcross , Boating . No more then 1 hr drive in multiple directions.many of tracks been around since late 50s & 60s .
I do not know if cost to be spectator
Entry , food, parking. If Gas prices play apart ,or Lack of interest , This Area has grown majority of the jobs are Government contractors ,
You would have 4 or 5 track open same day , So many people to fill pits & stands , Now Very Little spectators,
Do not know if a lack of Generational Interest Especially on the fan side ,
Racing has alway been expensive but there's cl***es that don't really cost that much , I know one tack owner I was told His expenses on light Night is
4,500- 6,000 for 5-6 hrs .Myself I help just for love of sport !!

    Many people including my self
Made the hobby more expensive for themselves ,
Went from Driving or Tow hitch to
Ramp truck , trailer , Box Trailer ,
Know Double stack Motor home .
There was a rule in NHRA , Not race Cars @ track after gates closed .
This is why you seen Racers changing engine's Ext along road , parking lots Ext ..
This was around 2000 IHRA T/F

    Attend in person?
Two weeks ago I was in Muncie, Indiana for High Limit event. Rico lead the final lap, winning by 0.10 seconds. The place was packed on a Monday evening.
The following Sunday I was at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals. Top fuel won by Tony Stewart.
I was at home to watch the Nascar All Star race on television.
I can't make them all in person.

NASCAR today isn't anything like it was back in the 60s and early 70s.

I used to be a NASCAR fan, watching the top cl***es of the stock car events. They have changed the name of those old cl***es so much I can no longer keep up, so it just became NASCAR.

When they let the foreign cars in, it hurt a lot. These days, it appears the current leadership is trying hard to kill it off completely. At the rate they are going, they will succeed.

They lost me 15 years ago as a fan, but I hung in there to catch a few races every year. That ended a few years ago, I haven't watched a full race since about 2021. I no longer miss it.

We do attend a few local (as in 60 - 80 miles away) races a few times a year, but I find myself loosing interest in some of that as well. Racing used to be a guy bringing his best efforts to the track, and standing a chance of winning. These days, its a matter of how much money you can spend to buy the latest trendy thing, or you don't stand a chance of being any where near the winner's circle. Big money is killing all forms of racing.

I had a 60 minute drive and listened on XM radio. I got home just as the #5 driver wrecked his 2nd car in under 3 hours.

I happened to catch a few laps of the Indy 500 on Memorial Day. First time in ages. When they showed the view from the in-car cameras it was like watching a kid play a video game! I turned it off shortly after that. Not my cup of tea I'm afraid.

Just got back from vacation. I drove past the track on rt. 80 for the Iowa NASCAR race. It's in the middle of no where. A few years ago we actually stopped in the town for dinner. The only and biggest restaurant open seated about 30 people. I realized while there that the Iowa race was the following weekend and mentioned it to the waiter how busy he would be next weekend. He didn't even know the race was soon or care. We also drove by signs for the Chicagoland track. The area was so bad I wouldn't even roll down my window let alone get out of my car.

Well there’s a whole six weekends then where you can get off your **** and go to your local motorsport venue, be it a race track, a dirt oval, a hillclimb or a drag strip. Support your local track, take the kids or grandkids and keep motorsport alive. You’ll have a way better time than sitting in your recliner watching the telly.

You can even have a beer. IMG_6215.jpeg

    No more NASCAR, huh ?!
Is old Fireball still winning everything ? Him and Junior Johnson are the ones I 'pull-for'.

In summer I have little spare time to watch it live. I would catch it later in the week if it was a track I liked.

The truck races are pretty good to watch, so are the ARCA races.

Goodwood, Prescott and my Dad's B-17 base at Great Ashfield are the three spots in England I'd like to see.

Never been to RAF Great Ashfield, had to look it up, there’s so many you’d never know them all. Hope your dad made it back home.
