I just got a call from the machine shop. My 57 Olds 371 block has some cracks in it. I found a couple cracks early on and spent some money having a guy weld them up but when they magnafluxed the block a few more showed up. Given what I paid to have the first cracks taken care of, I think it's time to find a donor motor or block. I'm pretty committed to using the 371 in my ride since it is what my dad put in it back in 1962. I've done some looking around the Austin area and on Ebay but I can't come up with anything. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look next? Thanks -er
i've had good luck on craigslist. you can post a wanted ad there too.you could try Hemming motor news also. networking is best..ask you friends , your friend's friends and relatives maybe some olds message boards or clubs? keep looking , it's out there you/ve already started the ball roling by posting this here,,,you may have better luck in the Wanted Ads, i assume this will get moved there
