Do you mind sharing what the winning bid was. I think it is cool.

Hell, it will probably start and run with very little effort. I think I'd get it running, clean the cab up a bit and build a flatbed for the back and have a shop truck to boogie around in until someone else fell in love with it. You can probably do an axle shaft swap in the back to get five lug if needed but I wouldn't get too excited about that right away as someone spent some good money on having the driveshaft done.

  3. The Plymouth, Chrysler and DeSoto had the same body in 1930.

  4. Get yourself a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear and drive it.

That isn't a N case...it looks like a WAR casting (no notches on the cross ribs).

  9. I think there is serious potential there.
    Minus the engine ,that is.

  10. The engine is probably a 2.8 out of an S-10, and the rearend sure looks like an 8-inch. Not a 9-inch being flat on the top, and the center section looks like 8-inch with the ribs. The 4-lug you could probably just get another 8-inch out of any Ford small block powered car and be an easy swap. What is the front bolt pattern and brakes?

I would just try to clean the metal to get the rust off, spray bomb it with some epoxy primer and then flat paint after minimal body work. Build a flatbed for the back. Run that engine unless you have a cheap donor V8 to use, just keep the hood closed. Fun truck to cruise around and assuming you got it for cheap, I bet you can have fun and make money on it when you do sell later.

  11. So did Mustang 6 cylinders

It looks like they did a pretty good job converting it to a 2dr pick-up cab. Thru the windows, it looks like the rear of the cab was installed nicely.

The driveshaft is brand new. The rear end looks like someone at least took the time to rattle-can it black, along with the leaf springs. The busted clamp on the rear half of the passenger side spring could mean they actually took the time to take it apart to clean it up.

If anything, maybe convert the rear to 5-lug, but there's no reason to get rid of the 8-inch, especially if that new driveshaft has a new rear u-joint in it.

Looks like an excellent foundation for a hot rod. REALLY nice foundation, actually. It would be unique, that's for sure.

  17. Got a 9" in my 48 with a flat top, one way to tell if it has the lower bolt that you have to use a wrench on!

  22. V8 Mustang II is my bet. They could come in TrackLok too. They are worth a few $$ as they are rare if it is.

Its not even a 9" for that matter. It is a 8" possibly out of a Mustang II / Pinto or Maverick with it being a 4 lug unit

Is anyone reading the other posts or just posting to increase your post count. It has been determined to be a 30-31 sedan body that was shortened. Some people, read the thread!!!

  26. Bad when you don't look at the visor, the cowl, the grille, or the next few posts down very close. Already ID'ed as a Chrysler. Should have a tag, or holes where a tag was, on the right doorjam, cowl side.
