Hey guys, I Have had this set of 6.70-15 GOODYEAR SURE-GRIP snow tires kicking around my garage for a while now. I got these from a friend of a friend who's grandfather owned a warehouse full of leftover bias ply tires. I told him i would buy anything that had a wide whitewall, and these were all he could find. I thought they were cool as heck, so i bought em! I was just wondering if anybody had any idea what year these would be from. They are brand new an have never been mounted. Hope you think they are as neat as i do!
Yes, I would say late fifties to early 60s. I like that width of whitewall myself, is about the size on my car. Back in the mid 1970s a fellow I knew told me his family had been in the service station business in an area town, and had closed the station in 1961. At that time, they put all the tires on hand in a warehouse they owned for a different business. So, I purchased 5 new old stock Goodyear Double Eagle whitewalls (6.70 - 15) for my car. Ran them a few years (not a lot of miles, however). Finally took them off as the white was checking due to age. Still have them stashed under the house.....and actually one of them is still my spare.
