Wood for a 30's A-sedan?????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Stewed, Jan 31, 2007.

  1. I just saw a deal sell on the for sale list for a wood kit for a 30's model A. I am thinking of getting into a two door sedan that is going to need the wood replaced. How hard is this task and are they specific pieces special made or is it something I could make here at the homestead?? I have a pretty good background in working with wood but not an expert. If specialty parts where would you go about getting them and how much$$$$$$$$

A good book to look into is "Model A Ford Mechanics Handbook Vol.#2 It is written by Les Andrews and published by Cottage Hill Publishing of Grass Valley California. This book deals with installing top wood and sides and rear glass frames for sedans, coupes and trucks with great pictures as well. I'm sure he has another book dealing with the frame to body and door installations. Any Model A restoration place like Mac's will have these books. I also remeber that when R&C did the A sedan "Wingfoot" they also showed how to install the wood.

You can also get wood kits and just about anything else for a Model A from Mike's A Fordable In Georgia.
